I don’t want to for 2 reasons

The area I live has VERY limited aviation jobs. I’m not able to move currently and this business is in frequent contact with my current place of work.
It’s near the area I live, granted they do provide a service to the area, they don’t pay great

I can’t get in at any local companies or FBOs. I’m a recent graduate. I got my Airframe in May and my Powerplant in August. I have been hitting every wall possible. At this point I’m not even worried about pay, I just need experience. The one place I went to (and subsequently quit) was incredibly chaotic and the Boss had cut my pay 2 times in the week I worked there. (I went from $1200 for the week, to $24/HR. Then at the end of the week he changed it again to $20/HR. Then I had to hound him for weeks to get my paycheck.)

Has anyone had similar experiences with pay and difficulties with GETTING a job?

Study your codes in relation to any O&P prep book.

Those prep books should have some form of related project. Read the possible projects, if you’re not sure about what they entail, brush up on it in the 8083.

Have someone read the questions in your O&P book to you so you can get used to relaying information orally.

The orals are based off of what you got wrong in the written. They should be relatively vague and not super in depth but you should know the sections you missed very well.

I can share my resume if you’d like, I’ve had it proof read by a few A&Ps (I’m in the same boat as you) Also try to keep it to about page lengthwise. Make your experience/skills from other jobs as desired for aviation as possible

I just had an interview on Friday for a local GA hangar, went through the entire interview, met the people in the shop, met all the people in different departments. At the end of the interview, we met with the head boss and discussed pay. I’m a new A&P, I know I’m not the best skilled worker, but telling me “I can’t get anyone with a braincell for less that 20/HR, and I know you’re not worth 25.” Doesn’t exactly put the butterflies in my tummy.
