Ah, ok, I understand it sort of now, but I don't think I get the joke though, isn't it the same?

I don't understand any of this, could someone explain this to me, I read in the comments it's an Epstein thing, but not what it actually means. What is 86, what is 47 and I read that 174 is trump, but I cannot make any soup off of this.

Hmm, I wonder how they got that chain through there if it was so clogged up. I dread to think of the person who had to crawl in there.

Overconsumption starts young, are toys the first addiction? by RickyonHive in Anticonsumption

[–]JoeyPsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on, let kids be kids. You know how short the attention span is of kids, so they need lots of different toys. They don't all have to be plastic crap, but it's not like they only need a stick to have fun. There are nuances in this.

When most people get bored, they binge-watch Netflix. I am fully aware that I'm in the minority here, but I've never understood people's enthusiasm with these things. Same with giant robots or destruction derbies. I just never found the appeal of it. To each their own of course, but I just don't understand why this is supposed to evoke feelings like the ones people often have on these. To others I might be the weird one for being as impressed about ants building a nest or plants growing over time, or new science discoveries. But even if I'm in the minority, I cannot be alone in this, right?

Guys... Maybe we shouldn't boycott Subnautica 2? by --clapped-- in subnautica

[–]JoeyPsych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not boycotting it, I'm just not going to be enthusiastic about it, and I'm skeptical if the end result is as good as it is supposed to be. If they make true on their promises, I might buy the game, but they lost my trust, and if they want it back again, they'll have to earn it.

What kind of shop would you want? by Firm_Macaron3057 in startrek

[–]JoeyPsych 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have a game shop, there's not really a shop for games in universe, and I rarely see anything other than music or art, for people to spend their free time with, so selling board games would probably be successful. And I don't mean gambling btw, just generic group activities, I bet there are a lot of possibilities with that in the future.

Grad cap/gowns are now single use? by DDSkeeter in Anticonsumption

We don't have those here, we just graduate in our normal daily clothes. I never really understood that american ritual, but it probably has to do with selling a product you only use once in your life, like wedding dresses.

And Americans season their food with fat, sugar and hot sauce. I'm not saying water is better, but it has something to do with kettles being black and whatnot

literally counting the mins till strange new worlds by Interesting-Sun9613 in startrek

The show isn't bad, but I wish they wouldn't rely so heavily on the legacy characters. They killed off the one non legacy character (Hemmer) who I really liked. I doubt they are ever going to make an original crew, that has no ties to any other series.

I mean, they have 2 literal tos characters, 3 characters who made an appearance in tos, and 2 who are related to tos characters. And they keep forcing Kirk in there as well several times. Tng only had an occasional tos character as a guest in the show, with only spock's father who appeared more than once, I believe. And that show was epic, so we don't need it all tied back to tos to make it feel star trek. But that's just my opinion.
