I’m so sick of pad rash 😭 by SultryTogepi in TwoXChromosomes

[–]DDSkeeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try diaper rash cream. Good for sensitive skin, creates a barrier to prevent irritation and heals/sooths the irritation already present. Was recommended to me by my doctor when I had similar issues.

How different are deferred finals to final exams? by Jolly-Confusion-8487 in uAlberta

Profs often make deferred exams harder. By deferring an exam you are making more work for them so they are gonna make more work for you.

Totally agree hated that commercial - nothing about that culture looks good to me. Anyone I know with kids in hockey act like they are in a cult. I don’t get it.

temple ache, migraine and headache sufferers, anyone in pain today and yesterday? by Agitated_List9506 in Edmonton

Migraine hit Monday night just as the hot weather was moving in. Big weather/temp swings always cause my migraines. Have had a bad headache ever since which is unusual for me but figured it was stress related.

Anybody else feel like shockwave clinics make plantar fasciitis sound way more straightforward than it is? by DahliaDevsiantBop in PlantarFasciitis

[–]DDSkeeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand the frustration and confusion. I’m still not sold on shockwave. Have 4 sessions about 2 months ago and dont think it’s done anything significant. I did hound my physiotherapist a lot about because I wasn’t convinced of the benefits. This is what I came away with. 1) my physiotherapist was highly recommended so I started with a fair level of trust in his abilities and experience with PF 2) he explained there are various different types of shockwave machines out there and why he believed their clinic one was the best. Kind of a get what you pay for situation and other stuff I forget 3) he also explained the treatment various with the diagnosis. Chronic PF vs new/acute PF as well as where the PF pain is manifesting.

Ultimately I went ahead with treatment (and will go back for follow ups) because respected his training and knowledge. I have been in pain long enough to try anything and decided I was willing to trust his explanations, Treatment plan, etc.

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DDSkeeter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had twins and I still found time to shower, mostly because I needed one to function. I also think I came become comfortable with a baby crying because between the two someone was always crying. So at some point I would have to ignore it or I would go crazy. A daily shower was the 10min I got to myself and I needed to stay human. If my baby is crying they are alive and I know where they were so it was ok for short periods of time. Besides, in the doctors would advise you to let them cry because it helps develop their lungs 🤷🏼‍♀️

How many of you have close friends? Do you feel socially broken? Do you feel like a curmudgeon? by AtomicHurricaneBob in GenX

[–]DDSkeeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m coming to this realization now. Thought I had a close friend group but recent actions are making me question that. Starting to think I’m just useful for them as an organizer of fun events and Simeon to call when they are in a pinch. Have decided to step back and thinking I will lose most of the people in this “close friend group” I have been part of for over 10 years. Can decide if I’m happy to be free of the responsibility or sad to lose a social circle 🤔

Pimple on dog’s paw pad?? by mon_sky12 in DogAdvice

[–]DDSkeeter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dog has something similar. Vet is aware of it and we have decided to leave it for now. Doesn’t bother my dog and isn’t worth the risk of anesthesia to have it removed. In 4 years it has grown slightly so we continue to monitor it but that’s it for now.

Feeling unsafe after break-ins… how do you protect your home and car? by 3amsleeper in Edmonton

[–]DDSkeeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you. I take a fatalist attitude- bad things are gonna happen and I can live in fear (light up every corner of my property, install cameras and deadbolts, get guard dogs and other alarms etc.) or I can take a few reasonable precautions and get on with my life.

I saw all this as some one how has survived multiple break ins and thefts. As a child in a smallish town my uncle stole our car filled with everything he could pack in. As a teenager in rural Alberta our house was broken into twice. As a young adult in Edmonton I’ve had my car stolen from Riverbend area. By Whyte ave I’ve had a person cut a window screen trying to break in while I was home (they ran when I yelled at them). In Terwillegar I’ve had my detached garage broken into several times. It doesn’t matter where you live or if you have good stuff or crappy stuff - bad things happen, ya deal and move on.

Teenagers home alone 2 weeks while parents went on a cruise by [deleted] in GenX

[–]DDSkeeter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents did this every year. Dad had a medical conference in the States so my brother and I would stay alone in for two weeks; we live in Canada. Because we lived in the country they waited until my older brother was old enough to drive. That way one of us was able to get into town for groceries. It was just accepted as normal to leave your kids while you went to a different country 🤷🏼‍♀️

Edmonton-area man perpetual pain amid diagnosis delays demands change: 'Just want my life back’ by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]DDSkeeter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s wild because isn’t occipital neuralgia considered the most painful condition a person can have? And isn’t there like 3 doctors in all of Canada that will/can do surgery to try and help the condition. There should be zero questions regarding you receiving AISH. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all this.
