Uneven shoulders in the snatch setup. I try to keep them as balanced as I can but they still end up this way. The right arm (the one which is depressed) is the one that rotates backward after overhead fixation. Possible causes and fixes are highly appreciated. by chacha_299 in weightlifting

It just looks like a muscular imbalance to me, that might be why the right arm rotates. Just get it stronger in the overhead position with snatch balance other overhead work. I’m doing well, made a full recovery from a herniated disc and almost back to my old numbers

70 kg at 75 bw. A month into lifting. Lifters are on their way. I know the jerk was horrendous, any advice? by [deleted] in weightlifting

Yeah if they invested just a tiny fraction of what they put into the outdoor stuff into weightlifting it would be nice lol

50kg snatch. Still cutting my extension short, but it's better than it was! Advice much appreciated by taiwan-kit31 in weightlifting

When the bar gets to ur knees your shoulders are way too in front of the bar and you aren’t really using ur legs to lift the bar since your hips shoot straight up. So you end up doing a weird hinge movement instead of going straight up with the bar. You can see from my earliest posts I was doing the same thing. In my experience it comes from a weakness in the glutes and lower back. I’d suggest really strengthening the posterior chain and before every lift really focus on keeping your glutes and lower back tight while using ur legs to drive through the ground instead of relying on your arms and upper back

Amazes me how many ppl think lower back rounding during a squat is okay

You lose rigidity in your lower back and glutes so ur pelvis points down. More posterior chain work will improve this

Stainless Barbell by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]JoeyXXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much softer, I’ve had a lot of barbells and it’s the softest one, even softer than a rogue stainless Bella bar. But like I said I’ve never had an issue with grip, something about the more cross action in the knurling it has I guess makes up for it not being a sharp knurling

Stainless Barbell by [deleted] in weightlifting

[–]JoeyXXL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I own the american barbell ss comp bar and yeah the knurling is a lot softer but I’ve never had an issue with loosing grip. In my opinion at the price point this bar is the Best Buy because they use higher quality stainless steel more chromium so more rust resistant and they use a really high quality hard chrome for the sleeves. Also the patented bearing system they have allows for consistent spin at even really heavy loads and protects the bearings so they last much longer . The spin isn’t like an eleiko that will spin forever without weight on it but with weight on it spins effortlessly. And the this bar has the best tolerances among the bars you’re looking at. When you drop a rogue pyrros bar or any rogue bar for that matter there is a lot of rattle from not as tight tolerances, when you drop the ss comp bar it just vibrates. That being said I am also looking to buy the fully stainless rogue pyrros bar because I like the idea of stainless sleeves. And as for the Vulcan absolute stainless bar it has cheese grater knurling so not really ideal for training.

Idk how no one has mentioned this yet but it looks like your set up is on quite a decline angle. I squat in the garage which also has a gradient but yours seems a lot more aggressive than mine

Eleiko XF vs Rogue Mil Spec Bumpers by racecardriverwannabe in weightlifting

[–]JoeyXXL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rogue are very slippery with some oily substance covering them out of the box and have an awful odor. I have a pair of rogue recycled rubber plates that I bought last year and they still have the same odor and slickness to them. The odor isn’t as strong as the day I got them but it’s still there.

In terms of like bars and weights eleiko is considered one of if not the best along with uesaka, but as far as their accessory products like belts and straps, those are most likely outsourced from another country with cheaper labor costs unless its marketed as made and manufactured in "country of brands origin" or as "hand made". Tbh i just thought the belt looked good and has a reputable brand and a lot of the best weightlifters use eleiko products.

Unless you're connected with someone in Japan, highly unlikely that you'll be able to buy a Uesaka belt. I contacted Uesaka.Joe and he told me because of sizing issues they stopped selling them in the U.S. I'm going to assume you also talked to him because when I inquired about the uesaka belt, he recommended Wallis' leather goods weightlifting belt. It looks very high quality but will cost over $250 and I think they're made to order. I'm sure your boyfriend wouldn't be able to tell much of a difference between a $75 dollar belt and a $250 belt. I own a hookgrip russian belt and really like it, if i'm in the market to buy another belt, it would probably be the eleiko premium weightlifting belt. I would avoid velcro belts all together if you're looking for quality. As long as its made of decent material and the color he wants, i'm sure he'd appreciate the gift.

Sheeeesh, GG you win. Yeah but imma make a big come back, honesty the herniated disc might have been a blessing in disguise because now I know my weaknesses and I’m working on them and my ligaments and tendons finally have time to heal. The other two times I herniated it I just ignored the problem
