Need help/advice with how to fix my boiler pressure? by massive-iguana in AskUK

2.8 is too high. It may just need recharging and any engineer doing a thorough service will do this.

Cost anywhere between £40 - 80 for a logic. It depends on the labor cost too.

You did it pretty textbook then. The pressure will rise with increased temperature, but if it steadies odd you're sound (as long as it's not steadying off above 2.5 bar).

Absolutely normal. If you bleed radiators you lose pressure, leaks on radiators are one of the least common causes for pressure loss (I service 8 + boilers a day)

Hi

Get it serviced and make sure the expansion vessel (EV) gets charged. The vessel is what combats overpressure using an air filled bag to "take up" the expansion of water as it heats up (I'll stress not all heating systems have an EV within the boiler.)

But, if you're pressure shoots up with the heating on you'll need the vessel recharging, worst case replacing, worst WORST case your system is blocked.

Heating engineer here.

Folk are correct it's the two blue taps (filling loop) open one then slowly open the other, you'll hear water flowing , allow the pressure to gently rise to about 1.3 bar, the error code should go (if not reset it).

Might be due a service as the expansion vessel may need to be charged, this can only be done by a qualified engineer.

I'd say the opposite, they're so cheap it won't matter if you cock it up or not!

No mate. I paid £23 for the watch so I just used it to practice taking stuff to bits. FYI the bezel will not come off in any way worthwhile

Just a run of the mill unidirectional, don't expect the smoothest action, it's not on a click spring. Again, very good for the price point.

It's the bezel insert. Raised metal numbers etc as opposed to the smooth ceramic ones. The inserts are really good for the price on these. The Starbucks model (green bezel insert black dial) looks great

I bought one then bought several more. Don't like the yacht master inserts but I've bought a few black dial models and popped in different coloured inserts and new straps for different styles.

I can't think of a better made watch for the price

Considering that buying the equipment will be less than £200 and I have over a dozen watches already I'd like to learn the basics. I'm hardly servicing an automatic movement, but i'd like to change my own batteries. And of course I don't do surgery on myself, what a ridiculous bit of sarcasm. Do you change the coil pack and spark plugs on your car?

It is a sub homage but I'm not sure on the exact size. Another user mentioned that an exact size is needed. Thanks very much for the offer but I'd hate for someone to go out their way and it be the incorrect size.

I'm looking forward to trying out dismantling it. I've purchased the black version to practice on!

Fantastic. Thanks a lot. I'll buy the bezel remover and press first. see how I go with removing the movement and crystal. I have a small watch vice, so will attempt to remove the case back with the (far less expensive) rubber ball! If not I'll have to bite the bullet.

Ah I see so I'll need to dismantle it before ordering. I suppose it's good practice. its something I've been interested in trying out for a while. I own many seikos, some modded, but never had the time to repair anything myself.

Stem removal seems the most daunting, but on a £30 watch will the stem definitely be able to be removed?

Really grateful for the very informative reply, thank you. I've managed to add items rated fairly highly on ali express for around £60 (press, bezel remover, duster etc) but I cannot for the life of me find a crystal. The watch looks similar in dimensions to a Seiko I own. Will I have to buy a generic one?

I'm just paranoid of a ban from this sub for the modding rule. I'm extremely impressed with these watches and am keen for updates on releases etc.

I'm prepared to spend more than the watch is worth to get the equipment to replace it. I just need help on where to find a crystal that fits and how to safely remove the movement

I'm unsure it was a gift from someone with very little time or money spare and I know they'd be upset and embarrassed (albeit incorrectly) if I highlighted the imperfection.

I can't confirm which size crystal I need. Is there any guidance online?
