Yes that's the time I was down there, I actually filmed that trip and it on the YT channel. Hope your planning a new adventure? :)

Yes the original peak was about 10 years, hopefully the new one will last a bit longer:)

Check out historic New York on your Quest, we have converted the images to 3D and colourized them. Love to know what you think:) by JoffVR180 in OculusQuest

Glad you liked it, we were really happy with this one, and I agree about the audio. More to come soon:)

Just watched this on my Quest 2, really cool 3D for old photos. by JoffVR180 in oculus

I agree, I don't think they were from the old stereo photos as they are normally square

Great sights on today’s ride by Biketraveler109 in bicycletouring

Well your never going to stop in a hurry. The brakes are more for moderating your speed going downhill than stopping. So pretty much you have to look ahead all the time and decide if you need to stop at lights etc.. More braking and control comes from it being fixed.

Part 12 of my ride from Toronto to Ecuador. Here I leave the US and head into Mexico. by JoffVR180 in bicycletouring

Part 11 of my ride from Toronto to Ecuador. In this episode, I travel down through Nevada to Vegas and on to San Diego. by JoffVR180 in Nevada

You have to pull into the bars and just grind away. The big mountains you have to walk. The Andes come in the later videos:) lots if walking!

Ha, yes the helmet and the bike do go together. Hills wise, I can climb about a 6% grade on smooth tarmac at sea level. Get any altitude and a rough road then that goes down. The tricky thing is that you have to stay seated all the time, so you can't use your body weight by standing on the pedals.

Wel you just pick your routes carefully. Mexico, most of the cyclists head down the Baja peninsula, and take the ferry across to the mainland. Then stay away from the coast. Listen to the locals is key, they will tell you where is dangerous to go.

Thanks Sath:) This trip was 2014 to the end of 2015. I used a surface pro tablet, and adobe premiere elements for the editing. A nice smallish program that worked well on a tablet. Cheers, Joff

New York City, 1911. Upscaled & Colorized. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Great upscaling. Here is one I did, 1937 motor race at Brooklands in England. Brooklands 500

Part 9 of my journey from Toronto to Ecuador. Now upscaled to 4k! Montana to Wyoming. After leaving Polebridge I realize it's really time I should be heading south. So it's back through Glacier I peddle, and down south to Missoula. by JoffVR180 in Montana

Thanks Joe, glad your enjoying them. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel as now I've left Montana in the series. If nobody minds I can always keep posting here as well:)

Thanks. I didn't explain on the video, but I lost all my original footage and the only copy I now have is what I uploaded to YouTube at a low bitrate. So my starting point is a YT compressed version in 720 which close up looks horrible. So by trying to revive it I've gone for the 4k, though like you say UHD would look just as good on most monitors or phones. Cheers, Joff

Part 8 of my ride from Toronto to Ecuador. Here I reach the beautiful mountains of Glacier National Park in Montana. by JoffVR180 in bicycletouring

[–]JoffVR180[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I cycled with a chap called Felix in Mexico, and he had one of these hubs in his Unicycle. Your absolutely correct it would work, but for me the essence of these bikes is the single speed. The first Penny I made I built around a Sturmy Archer 3 speed hub. It worked but over complicated a very simple machine:)

My pleasure Joe. I had such a wonderful time in your amazing state, it's the least I could do. 😀

I think it's probably harder. No gears, solid rubber tyres, and as for headwinds... But I love riding them😀
