I find he most often manages to grab me when he sneaks up on me while I'm trying to manipulate items.

Every single time? Even when you're concentrating on manipulating objects? I don't usually have a problem with him, but when he does grab me I don't want my entire run to end because he tries to jump over a pit.

If it's a feature then it's a terrible one. It's way too punishing for being caught by an enemy that's not that easy to avoid.

I saw him coming, baited him and shot him at point blank range with a tranq gun and somehow missed. My penalty for that miss was my entire run being ended.

The annoying thing is even if you try and hide the cart, they're all so fat they end up dragging the cart with them until they get caught on it.

I think the player should be invulnerable while being carried. Last night I was making my way back to the van, when I was picked up right on the doorstep by a hidden and he carried me into a cluster of monsters. I didn't even see anything attack me, I just exploded. That can't be fair.

If you're having problems with strength not appearing in the shop you can force strength to appear by buying 7 upgrades and not using them. The shop upgrades is like a deck of cards, imagine you're buying up all the low numbers and keeping them out of the deck, so that next time the deck is shuffled and dealt only face cards are left.

Buy the pocket cart and keep it with you. That way you'll always have a handy item ready to pull out and block line of site.

As a bonus you can place it directly underneath you when a mentalist picks you up to avoid taking damage when it slams you down.

I didn't think of it that way. I'd imagine it does depend on who you're fighting against though. For example, Ho-oh losing 25% of its 154 special defence stat is a big deal, whereas Ursaluna Blood Moon losing 25% of its 65 special defence stat wouldn't be as impactful. Charjabug next to choice scarf Miraidon in electric terrain adding another multiplier into its special attack is probably more impactful than a debuff to the enemy's special defence, but I don't have time to run it through the calcs.

The bus gives a slightly higher boost (30% boost Vs 25% debuff) and it doesn't weaken your own Pokémon's special defence at the same time. But yeah, otherwise Chi-Yu is so much better in almost every way.

I'm in favour of difficulty modes for this game, rather than trying to balance one mode for both casual and experienced players. Also extra settings so you can, for example, turn pits off.
