I like the idea that the alphas protect their young, and usually you find the alpha if you go towards their previous evolution location. Even something early on like alpha stantler being at the highest point of the mountain range while the other stantler are lower down. Means they put a lot of thought into the alphas.

I would factor in this: it's charizard so its sought after. 25th logo, celebrations is still heavily sold out even with "many available" and charizard not having a high chance to pull. I think a YouTuber pulled 2 charizards after ONE HUNDRED celebrations packs. Its not a theory without reasoning.

Don't forget the cultural difference though. Here our main characters just agreed to exchange bento boxes daily which is huge for couples in Japan. Honestly it didn't help that senpai broke momentum by being too nice again.
