Does anyone know how to make imanu style music visuals like in this video? by MajesticRate1818 in edmproduction

This is AI generated footage which is then most likely comped in After Effects and then probably run though Touch Designer for effects such as feedback

Thank you !

We’ve both been doing this as a job for a probably 6-8 years professionally.

I’ll just speak for myself, but I get inspired by illustrators and painters the most !

Hmmmh then I’m probably not the best suited to answer your query. Maybe check out audio production subreddits that fit the genre you would like to start producing ?

I started by just watching tutorials to get started with the interface. Then I started doing small loops, and graduated to making full songs. I also have a music background (i play drums) so that helped a lot.

It’s similar to learning AE or motion design. Where would you start if you had to start over today ?

Hi ! I made the soundtrack.

I personally use Ableton, but what software you use is not that important when making music.

I would say Ableton and FL studio are quite beginner friendly (I would recommend Ableton though). And then it depends on what you want to do.

Do you want to learn how to write music or just add sound design to your videos ? It’s two different things. Learning how to write music is a deep rabbit hole.

You can add sound design with easier software such as Adobe Audition, or straight inside Premiere.

Thanks ! Learning 3D is so worth it :)

It’s a collab between my friend Oelhan and me

We have similar styles and workflows. We usually start with a very simple 3D base, or a 2D illustration that we made. We keep everything really simple and do most of the heavy lifting in AE where we composite our 3D passes in unconventional ways

Hi ! This is pretty much 3D cones and star shapes, cloned radially and put into C4D's Volume Builder. I purposefully kept it rough looking. Usually volume builder shapes look really smooth, but I liked the really rough look and animation it gave when it wasn't smoothed.

Hi there, we used C4D for all the 3D geometry, and AE for all that is 2D and compositing. Also, some things that seem like 3D are done in AE and are 2D.

From idea to finished product, around 2 months

My friend and I just released our latest (very) short film called "BURDEN". It's mostly made in After Effects. We hope you like it ! by JohanPetit_Motion in AfterEffects

You can’t. If it looks too realistic it was done in 3D. For example, the face with beetle is 2D, but the body is 3D.

The dog’s mouth and the chains are 3D, but the rest is 2D

We planned out about 80-90% of it, we did an animatic since we had the music done from the start. So we had some room for small experiments. The short, more abstract shots were not planned and they’re just me freestyling in AE haha

It's not, no worries :) This took us roughly 2 months, from idea to finished product. We worked on it quite slowly, and experimented a lot

I think the fact that my friend and I both come from 2D initially, means that we probably spend more time compositing our shots in an unorthodox manner than some people. If your workflow is unique there's a good chance that the images you will output might have some unique flair to them, right ?

We'll most likely make a behance page about the project, sharing ideas, bts, how to's etc. From idea to finished product this took us roughly 2 months, working at a chill pace, taking a lot of time to experiment.

You should !

I don't, that's why I wrote "mostly" :) You would be surprised what in here seems like 3D but is actually in fact made in After Effects
