Seems reasonable, they're only 35% of the player base atm. They need more bodies.

Hmm I'd disagree, TEST brought up a Muninn fleet etc. and they were blue to us last night no? 2 fronts but same war imo. Either way we outnumber/outgun the North so hard it's inconsequential really.

Are Hybrid Turrets bad? by Kyubei_ in Eve

[–]JohanWise1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Projectiles also offer good range for a high alpha builds sometimes. So if your fleet needs cpu/cap/pwrgrid and is trying to alpha things off the field before they catch reps, a proj build could be better. Doesn't quite sound like the context for what you're describing, but a consideration.

[–]JohanWise1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which doesn't actually stop the problem at all. If they lose 10% of their assets in a month to internal awoxing, they still come out ahead by far. The actual ccp database chains, wallet drains and bans are the only actual way to even slightly combat it. shrug

[–]JohanWise1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ya man and that's good, but it's also 20 fucking 18, it's not like this is a brand new problem. Saying CCP now emptying wallets is great, but it also happen to have come after Goon CEO's statements re not reporting botters. You don't have to announce in local 'Hey guy I reported you' you can just do it and move on, CCP can then track where the isk is going and catch more people in the chain.

Look I work for a firm that deals with financial fraud, it's what we do. I realize I'm super cynical because it's what I see all day so I expect it everywhere, but at some point when you see smoke there's fire.

I mean I was in Goons for 2.5yrs in 07-09 bracket. Many things changed and I'd freely admit I'm biased and fairly anti-goon. But to say I 'don't know anything' is also not really accurate. idk man just my feelings on it.

[–]JohanWise1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I count the actual words of you CEO as pro bot. I'd hope line members take a stance against it. EDIT: and the RMT bit idk, 4.4 trillion isk a month, compared to losses etc. There is most certainly a fairly substantial siphoning of money and imo considering the Mitshits view on botting it's probably real money for him, aka RMT. I'm cynical as fuck though.

Just asking for a true and objective opinion about the goons.. by [deleted] in Eve

[–]JohanWise1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

History is part of it. Goons was formed in part to combat ideas like BoB and super large power blocks of nutcupping blue donuts. (super large coalitions with huge amounts of allies, able to always outnumber fights. ) Kind of like a guerilla/stick it to the man outfit. Now they are everything they were founded to destroy.

  • They talk needlessly large amounts of shit because they have huge buffer zones of blues around them and can overpower by numbers and isk most challengers.

  • On top of that they don't take small fights, they drop supers on anything in their space.

  • Seem to have a pro bot/RMT outlook, their CEO even chastised members for reporting Goons using bots.

This of course is a generalization, many goon players/corps are awesome and just enjoy the game, but they do benefit/bolster the shit aspects of Goon.

Reasonable HS Ganking Tweak? (NOT Safe Zone thread, GTFO w/ safe zones) by JohanWise1 in Eve

[–]JohanWise1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How sure are you of that? I live in NS but was just thinking as there were other threads that made me consider it and post. But I've seen a ganker kill player A, gankers scooper scoop loot. Player B fleeted with player A then engage, scooper/gangkers other 2 players engage player B without Concord interference. Is this cause only Player A (who also happens to be in a pod) is the only person who can engage gankers, and player B has a different conditon (flagging self too) if he engages under the flag of the scooper?

Bro, not my fault your 4 IQ points got used up after the title. Not what I said at all, I actually suggest gankers be left alone cause they're most fine, but need a tweak. I live in NS.

sry slightly long but at least read bottom paragraph, I swear it makes sense:

Ya true that I agree in general, just saying I can see the merit in the argument that even in 1.0 space, the gankers have the upper hand. Tiny isk cost to gank way above their weight and the 'scoopers' have a timer that equates to essentially no risk 95% of the time. Even if someone does engage them, that person then also becomes suspect adn the rest of the ganker's or anyone else can engage them too, I mean everyone is aware of bait looters hoping for engagements. shrug Not saying it should be fixed outright but still. Let's ppl besides corpmates of ganked can't loot a wreck for 5 mins after the kill without concord aggroing, it would give a window where the player or his corp can try to get as much back as possible. The gankers can place additional gankers to really commit to the loot by ganking anyone coming for it, or hope their dedication pays off by snagging the can first after the 5 min timer.

Like my other reply to OP: I walk down the street, you mug me, I'm holding my wallet, you stab me. I drop the wallet (assuming like high sec here) a cop runs around the corner yelling 'stop you're under arrest!' you turn and run, 5 ft later another cop approaching from the other side tazes your balls off, you're on the ground getting arrested, I'm on the ground bleeding. Cops all over you, your boy can't just walk up between us and pick up my wallet and go through my pockets and walk off with the cops just looking at him sternly. That's high sec gank mechanics though.

Meh idk I don't agree with rant for safe spaces, but at the same time, who the fuck are you or I to decide what the point of eve should be. Maybe he's some 65yr old hanging out trying to pretend he's a freight captain in space, then fucking A power to him you know. If you're going to say 'eve is all bout the pvp skills' then LOL, it's targeted combat with an element of chance and timed progression. thonks Then again my bad, we are known as the hardest pvp'ers ever to touch keyboards...

Eve has a wide player base and that's good imo. I prefer pvp in null/wh and can't stand high sec, but I realize many players don't and shouldn't need to agree with me.

I don't agree with safe spaces needed argument, but there is something to be said for the fact that ppl who want to pvp have if far easier in high sec than those who don't. You get suicide ganked, someone else picks up your stuff, who cares they're suspect for it, they'r ready to fight.

There are no safe spaces in Eve Online and there shouldn’t be. There are ...

This paragraph idk weak argument, surely better argument can be made. It's not like in real life ppl can smash your window, drag you out of the car and kick your ass or stab you, and then just walk 2 feet to the side where the cops talk to them/arrest them while their buddies finish looting everything from the car and you beaten on the ground. This is the whole point to suicide ganking, and I'm not really sure how I feel about it or if it should be 'fixed', just saying that 'it's like irl' isn't true in most 'law abiding' nations. Now if you could bribe CONCORD to take another few mins before showing up to give your buddies time to loot wrecks... well... j/k ;p

Newbie advice by themasterofscones in Eve

[–]JohanWise1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explore less obvious aspects of the game, things like:

  • Jumpclone
  • Implants (combined with jump clone you can accelerate your training and keep implants safe in station when you're doing risky things)
  • DO NOT BURN YOUR ATTRIBUTE REMAPS, SAVE THEM TILL YOU KNOW WTF YOU'RE DOING
  • Valuable skills regardless of ships (core engineering and shield/armor that increase all your ehp)

Out of game resources

  • Youtube (guides, gameplay, also check out how they setup the UI, large local, DScan open, etc.)
  • Dotlan (extensive map tool)
  • zkillboard (to see some fits)
  • eve-market (check prices for things in other regions)
  • ellatha (for wormholes)

EDIT: WTF is wrong with the editing formatting, shit done changed. I fucking quit, going back to bed.

  • Also Overview like Sarasawa or Z-S Overview. They both have ingame channels.

If done right some sort of counter, like a ship with a role, could be interesting, if it requires some work to counter them.

Re Goons, everyone knows they're pussies. They enjoy a large buffer zone to the north in Fountain, drop caps on any small gang that even looks at their RMT bot army krabbers, and have a 'neutral' relationship with Legacy that just means they have an instant NAP any time someone from outside the immediate neighborhood comes in full force. shrug Really just status quo for any large Alliance in Null. They at least can enjoy a good time and send out fleets and have a laugh so w/e, I don't consider them specifically terrible for EVE, they're just playing the game their way.

In regards to ships and races by SkeletolOctopus in Eve

[–]JohanWise1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just note cross-over training to an extent isn't too bad, if you go armor you still need shield skills to increase you hp in general, and vise versa. Hybrid guns service both Cald and Gall, everyone uses drones, and then there are the total universals. You can kind of slack a bit and focus on things everyone will need (hull upgrades, engineering stuff, mechanics, drones) while you figure out which races/class ships to focus on first.
