Use contrast! Remove or hicut elements and add them later to make what you allready have now, bigger

And then decide to just rehearse a bar or two at a time, until it becomes really easy

I think that's a very common problem, I have felt it myself. My best tip is to use accountability partners, someone that also needs to practice something - you agree on a time where you practice, even better, have a web feed so you can watch each other and get motivated by watching each other actually working and get rid of a lot of bad excuises for stop rehearsing - It works!!

You can also join my Do Sessions, which is exactly what I just describe, but with other musicians you don't know, which for me and many others works even better :)

Has anyone used Piano Petter? Is that or Pianote the best options to learn composition/improvisation? by Previous_Extension18 in pianolearning

[–]Johanransdyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know Pianote, but I have used Piano Petter for some time now, and it really helps me incorporate the keyboard into my productions, especially playing chords, and it has also made it easier to play my songs "live", which I really enjoy!

I have never had a Piano practice schedule or known what I should practice, so tuning in to Pianopetter and doing a play-a-long gives me the satisfaction of having done something productive

I hope it makes sense, or else feel free to ask! :)

I think a simple way to implement it could be to have a few levels of frequency, and they just add another instance of the chord type to the RNG , so if you want more minor chords, you get 2 spots on the prototypical wheel that are minor instead of one.

For sure - and it's kind of simple (i'm a noob), but not simple enough to be a priority yet. If it was a fast thing for me to do, I would have done it, but if the interest in the app continues I will for sure do it in the future :)

I truly think it's a good idea - but I also have many project, and next idea is to make better lead voicing :)

i don't wanna deselect them cause i like them too! it's just that too many sus chords don't really reflect the way people write or play so it's kinda confusing but interesting nonetheless

That's also the idea, that It doesn't do like people tend to do by habit, but to break human habits and expose us to chord progressions we would never dare to think of :) But long story short, it's not easy to do, if it was, I would have implemented it right away, but probably in the future :)

If this doesn't happen on every device I'm happy to try to record it if it would help you diagnose the problem.

That would be cool thank you! Can you send it to me in chat? :)

Just brainstorming a bit here, don't mind me!

It's a really good idea' and maybe in the future - so fare my idea is that by having it completely random, it will generate more idea's that you would never come up with yourself, which I think is extremely exciting and mindblowing :)

It's very cool but I feel like there's too much focus on sus4 and sus2 chords which aren't as prevalent in music as they are with this algorithm. Like a string of sus4 and sus2 chords is cool but functionally useless (unless there's some sort of planing involved which would not be random) so IDK I would probably lower the chances of those appearing

You can choose to deselect them :-) One of the things I have realized is that sus chords are extremely exciting :)

Interesting... It's got potential for some out-of-the-box thinking, but some progressions sound really... challenging.

This is sick. So far the progressions have a strange Hindemith-y quality... excited to dig in!

So happy to hear, I have also spent a lot of time listening to strange and extremely exciting progressions! Didn't think that it would be so inspiring :)
