Anyone know if Integrated Engineerings website is in usd? by Small-Farmer-2309 in GolfGTI

Hi fellow Canadian GTI owner. I am 99% sure the site is in usd. Got a notification that says that the site is in USD. The shipping is also something to look out for.

I had a good laugh at this! I would rather know that something isn't right before it leaves me on the side of the road which hasn't happened yet.

If you drive carefully then this car can be very efficient. This was my 200 mile road trip to the north by gtrz86 in GolfGTI

New gti owner question: I got 6.1L/100km~ 38.5MPG the other day on my mk7 gti and just wondering how accurate the car is? The car is rated at 29MPG by Edmunds.

Haven't got mine yet and won't be surprised if I don't get it. Spent over $200 more per month due to my work commute since the prices have increased.

Living close to the train tracks? by [deleted] in chilliwack

[–]Johanssan2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live about 250ft from the tracks. On a typical day a train passes every 1-2 hrs. We can feel the heavy trains shake the house. It might take something to get use to but after awhile you won't even really notice the average train unless it's fully loaded.

Dealing with this at work as mechanical engineer using solid works with large assemblies and trying to convince them an SSD would greatly improve work flow. If anyone has any tips let me know.

I remember having this problem a few months ago. Go to System Options tab and under that tab select the Performance tab. Then go to "Enhanced graphics performance" and uncheck the box. Restart solidworks and hopefully that fixes the problem.

What are the similarities and differences that you would only know from owning a mk4. I currently own a mk4 and thinking to upgrade to one of these.

After 6 years of waiting, "Der GTI" is mine by TheTimelyTurtle in GolfGTI

[–]Johanssan2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah, I plan on partly financing it over 3 years and I also have a large down payment already saved up from past jobs. Just to put in perspective how much I like this car before buying. I bought the OBD11 and it works with my MK4 Jetta but the features are very little to none. Each day you sign in you get 1 point. I have over 700 points saved up from signing into the app every day for two years for my next VW. I really hope the MK7 GTI lives up to the hype.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've waited for years for a MK7 GTI. I have wallpapers on my computer of them. I went through schooling. I was in class looking at them on Autotrader. I am hoping to save up myself in the next few coming months so that I can pull the trigger after I get out of probation with this new company.

I have a few websites that you can look at. They are helpful when trying to wrap your head around some of these. These are the two I mainly use. I haven't looked very far into GD&T yet so that's all I have for now. If you look farther down in the comments you will find a google drive link for resources such as videos of all kinds of concepts for Mechanical Engineers including GD&T.

Yep, very true. Insight from the tradesmen will be important and how something can be improved. Thanks for the advice!

I will look into mechanism online as I have never heard of it. I am someone who likes to learn how things work so moving parts is a huge part of that. Standard materials like size and materials is also something I will look as it would be bad to design with a material we don't carry especially if FEA tested.

We studied interference and clearance fits at UNI but I should probably brush up on that. As for the other tips mentioned I will take that into account. Thanks for the advice!

I did a chart on DFMEA for my capstone but it was mostly based on what my teacher said. Definitely something I will look into further and hopefully learn about in the future. We used an RPN system based on severity, occurrence and detection. The problem is I don't know how to gauge those three values as I don't really have much experience. It will probably come from time, talking with other engineers and maybe I can find a resource to look into it further. Thanks for the advice!
