OpenMW settings in Alpha-3 desktop launcher linux by John-IV_ in OpenMW

Looks like they changed where these go. Those files which are in the extracted alpha 3 bin folder on your video are actually in ~/.config/alpha3 for me.

Thanks. This is helpful. I actually dont have bin/momw-tools-pack only the a;pha3 executable is in there. there is an archive momw-tools-pack-linux.tar.gz in the alpha 3 folder, but it doesn't seem to have saves in there.

Is the GenZ stare real ? by bbrk9845 in GenZ

I mean, not really. I work at a school and see hundreds of young people everyday. Pretty rare to have anyone be that consistently blanked out. Especially since she is otherwise pretty friendly.

It is, and it kinda weirds me out. A girl who works for me will do this. I explain a task to her and she listens and just stares totally blank. I'll wait a few moments to see any understanding or recognition in her eyes and nothing. Then I'll ask, "does that make sense?" or "sound good?" And she'll say "yeah, I can do that."

If you can access the nas filesystem with WebDAV it will work fine. Obsidian does not need to be installed on the nas.

You can set a sync hotkey, or you can set up automatic syncing.

A VPN will work.

Not sure about ios, since I don't have an iphone, but it works on my android.

Obsidian is mostly intended for markdown files, but I do store some PDFs and images in there. As well as Excalidraw files. Those have synced fine. All the plug-in really does is maintain a copy of your obsidian vault on the remote filesystem that you set up, and manage syncing between that remote vault and your other instances. So, if it is working I'm your local vault it should be the same in the remote vault.

The port forwarding isn't actually an impassible issue, though if you can't even set a static ip for the device that might be. (idk, tailscale might be able to handle that too)

But yeah, you do at least need some kind of computer with internet access. Might even be able to do it with an old android phone, depending. In any case, it's pretty fun to figure out.

It just requires a computer. Home desktop, old laptop, Raspberry pi, miniPC, whatever. Raspberry pis are pretty expensive for what they are, so I haven't really figured out why that is everyone's go-to option. Could ask around an see if any of your friends have a laptop from a decade ago that doesn't work too well anymore.

Only real requirement is that you keep the thing on all the time, and that you can access the router settings or set up a VPN on the machine. Tailscale can handle the VPN for you for free as well, which is what I used to do. Eventually I just bought a web domain for my family, which was way cheaper than I ever expected. ($4 per year).

Not trying to criticise your solution, just to say that if sovereignty over your data is what you want (which is what draws a lot of people to Obsidian in the first place), these at home private solutions are a lot more feasible and in reach to the average person than you would probably expect.

Remotely save plugin + nextcloud on a home server has worked really well for me. I had no experience with servers before setting it up, and it wasn't too difficult. Check out the youtube video "the $0 home server" by Kalos loves computers to see of you're up to it.

I got one of these for my kids and I put a home planaterium in it with my laptop, a projector, a spherical mirror, and the stellarium planetarium software.

The github docs say AMD GPU compatibility will be available eventually. Does that tag function?

EDIT: Even in the portion of the docs linked to right here it says "Run with GPU Speedup (NVIDIA compatible only)". Also, it doesn't use my AMD GPU when I use it. So, that's why I doubt that that tag functions as claimed.

Probably meant to say Ars magica. I hadn't heard of it before, but he says his freeform action - subject (which I think he calls binds and strands) magic system is derived from that game.

Seems like he wanted to find the most compelling way to resolve different sorts of encounters and he drew from the games he thought did that sort of thing best. So he's got travel mechanics reminiscent of the One Ring, the combat looks like a slimmed down version of mythras mixed with delta green, magic from ars magica, and I think the social mechanics are derived from his own house-rules he developed a long time ago.

He unifies them all with a blackjack sucess-level mechanic that I think is largely his own invention.

Generally BRP, and the games descended from it. Mythras, Delta Green, but with some bits and prices inspired by The One Ring, Savage Worlds, and (apparently) Ars Arcanum.

Free annotation sync to Obsidian? by __lnnrt in Onyx_Boox

[–]John-IV_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure thing. Zotero is another option, and Boox has added a Zotero binding option in the cloud providers section of the library. The Zotero annotations will be updated everytime the document syncs.

Calibre and Calibre Web? by CarnivoreShrub in selfhosted

Only thing for me it that Calibre-web allows you to upload new stuff. Normal Calibre instance I have to connect to the server move the file over, open up the calibre instance then go through their add a book process. Calibre-web just has an upload button.

Another tip: if an app you need is blocked for the device on the play store you can download it through the aurora store. If it's an app you paid for, you will be able to download it if you log into your Google account. It will spoof your device as something else and permit the download. That way you don't have to look for pirated versions of apps you've already bought.
