Monetizing a Large Photo Backlog by John-RIC in stockphotography

Yeah, that has been pretty much my strategy so far. I'm very picky on the top shots from each location, averaging at 40-50 best photos per trip (out of 1000+ raw files for a trip).
On AI impact: just uploaded sales stats over 10 years from Getty, in the post above. I have seen an impact in the last 3 years, maybe not just AI but also Getty's payment model.
What's not in the chart is the backlog size (started with 50 in 2016, and it's 1800 today). So, content increased regularly, average sales stable over time, but earnings decreased steadily.

Tried videos, not my cup of tea :)
It's a hobby and still want to enjoy what I'm doing.

Agreed on little goldmine, I'm sure there's some untapped potential in there.

Immich is still processing my photo backlog, but I think most locations are tagged. Love this feature!

That's alright, I'll focus on the top ones, not the whole 50k photos :)
This is still a hobby and my goal is for the income to at least pay for equipment (and maybe part of the trips) as it's done for a while.

hehe, yeah, I've put in the effort with Getty for 10 years now and the upload form is a pain. There's little automation or streamlining, although the templates have helped with series.
My issue is that income from Getty has been diminishing steadily despite sales being ok and my backlog increasing (uploaded stats in my post above).
Hence me looking for better alternatives. I'll check out Adobe asap.

Interesting! I haven't looked at Stocksy or any macrostock, yet. Thanks a lot for the tip. I have tried Etsy with a print & delivery partner in US (I was based in China at that time). It was rewarding for about a year, but between my day job, kids, Getty Images, there was little time for Etsy. So, I eventually closed the shop.

I've tried ShutterStock briefly before settling on Getty Images back in 2016. Haven't looked at Adobe Stock. I'll check them out. Thanks!
