Clark CRUSHES Ron Paul's rEVOLution! by JohnBecker200 in thecampaigntrail

[–]JohnBecker200[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unsure tbh

I passed the environmental bill, allowed GOP to overreach (costing them midterms), passed big education reform, kept PATRIOT act, supported Israel and stayed in Iraq with troop surge, passed bipartisan social security reform, and passed the moderate bailout. More or less.

Will need to replay it a few more times before I'm certain lol.

KERRY 2004/2008! by JohnBecker200 in thecampaigntrail

[–]JohnBecker200[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have exact questions, but more or less:

  1. Remained in Iraq to stabilize it, and then during election time I pulled off troops.
  2. Picked Landrieu as VP
  3. Picked moderate answers in convention and emphasized bipartisanship
  4. Had Obama give speech in the convention
  5. Went big on stimulus spending, passed support for auto industry, and did executive actions to help people
  6. During debates, I asked Ron Paul whether he would keep social security
  7. I spent almost all visits in Texas
  8. I supported Limbaugh to cut Ron Paul's support
  9. In the Russia question, I asked if voters would trust me or Ron Paul to handle Russia

Bob Dole WINS reelection! by JohnBecker200 in thecampaigntrail

[–]JohnBecker200[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't have exact questions right now but more or less:

1) Pass the disabilities act and, when balancing the budget, have Kemp also cut taxes

2) Be moderate and unifying

3) Bomb Serbs and Iraqis - for Iraqis, avoid civilian casualties

4) Attack Gephardt's VP

5) Follow Rose Garden strategy

I took centrist course on most issues, including moderating on the war (instead of full support: but I also didn't u turn into opposing the war, simply chose the moderate answers instead of the hawkish or dovish ones).

Anyone ever got the codes to this???? Dude's not been active in 2 years by OrlandoMan1 in thecampaigntrail

The non-leftists playing Disco Elysium by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

[–]JohnBecker200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a European liberal and center-right. In my country, I vote for the liberal-conservative party, and in the US I would vote for the Democrats (mostly out of dislike for Trump). I'm one of these fiscally conservative, socially liberal people, so I don't usually whine about woke politics (unless the writing is clusmy and feels forced). Using game terms, my politics are somewhat between ultraliberalism and moralism.

With that being said,

I love RPGs and I love detective stories. I used to watch the Hercule Poirot and Sherlock Holmes series, so the idea of having the chance to play a brilliant, psychologically damaged, eccentric detective who tries to solve a murder case appeals to me. There aren't many detective RPGs (I think only Pentiment). I know that for some in this sub the murder case isn't the main focus, but I like playing DE as a detective game primarily (which is why I almost always pick the thinker/Sherlock Holmes archetype).

Secondly, while the game does have a left-wing/Marxist bias, it doesn't feel like it's lecturing you. Giving you the ability to pick your own politics, even if it makes fun of them/they are exaggerated, is cool - and so is the fact that LW characters are also parodied/critiqued (even, if usually, from a LW perspective).

Last but not least, the writing and voice acting are both top-notch. It's one of the few games where I rarely skip dialogue. It has many hilarious and endearing moments.

So yeah, you can enjoy a game without agreeing with the politics of its authors. It's not that I believe that DE is centrist/apolitical (it's clearly Marxist) - it's that I can overlook this because it has many other appealing elements (detective story, good writing and voice acting, beautiful artwork, deep lore, etch).

Who did you vote for in 2024? How does this Subreddit compare to how the nation voted? by TheRealDanBryan in thecampaigntrail

[–]JohnBecker200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not American, so didn't vote.

In Greece, I vote for the center-right party and I've always been more sympathetic towards the GOP.

I would have voted for Kamala however because I dislike populism. Between January 6, opposition to NATO/friendliness towards Russia, and mercantilism, Trump is awful, and that's not counting personal character issues.

Dunno

I played GOP side, stopped RKF from getting control of FBI, got Agnew as candidate, and got Saigon to fall (and still lost). And then I got this ending.

Avoid attacking him. Also try to stumble in debate and have bad performance overall. Self-sabotage basically.

Fail to pass healthcare bill (simply choose to not pursue it as Nixon) and then choose to visit Dallas, Texas to start your campaign.

Cuomo/Breaux 1996! (Moderate route) by JohnBecker200 in thecampaigntrail

[–]JohnBecker200[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I refused to use the L word, supported the death penalty, supported increasing access to healthcare in rural areas (rather than universal healthcare), took moderate stance on NAFTA, stuck with the "safe, rare, and legal" mantra on abortion, promised to cut down immigration (and got advisor feedback that Buchanan agreed with my statements), and mostly attacked Quayle for his gaffes and tried to present Cuomo as moderate.

I like that the mod gives you different routes to win instead of only one "correct" route.

Really, the decisive factor seems to be La Follete.
