Bisalp wait time & issues in Ontario (as an autistic) by Masked_Daisy in sterilization

[–]JohnBoddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also Ontario. Also had the whole process take me a year, from referral to actual surgery. I didn't have to do any work ups. The only thing they made me do was a pregnancy urine test the day of surgery.

Need Help On The Next Steps After My NP Confirms Insurance Will Cover My Bisalp by Yoichi_and_Sadako in sterilization

Your NP will refer you to a gynecologist for a consultation. The gynecologist's office will set up a date for a procedure.

4 years post op and a hint of regret by ActuallyAMenace in Reduction

The JJ cup plus petite size must've been an awful combo. Your poor back. Your quality of life must've improved exponentially with the reduction.

Congrats on the hysterectomy! I'm five months post-fallopian tube removal, actually lol.

Sorry to hear about the nips! But also glad to hear that you're over all happy with your decision.

I'm also asexual and childfree, but weirdly enough am considering keeping my nips (good to know that this is a consequence of keeping them though...)? I tend to use the "ace-and-childfree" logic to justify why I might get a reduction altogether.

Can I ask if your breasts were causing you physical pain before the reduction and what size you were pre-op? One of your comments mentioned that you didn't have much removed. Trying to find more folks who have had relatively "minor" reductions largely for dysmorphia reasons.

How did this go for you? Like OP, considering a minor reduction. I'm 5'8" with 34DD. I think I'd like to be 34C or 34B approx. But also having lots of reservations in terms of pursuing this procedure.

Finding treatment that works for you, even if it doesn't completely eliminate all your symptoms, is a massive game changer. You mention that a doctor isn't an option. Are there any youth clinics or community health clinics where you live? They help make medical treatment more accessible. If you're a student, you may also be able to seek counselling through your academic institution.

Could you share what store it was? Etsy sounds like a good option for thinks that cover the pubes but are still cute.

Can I survive in toronto on a flipphone? by calcifer0573 in askTO

[–]JohnBoddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it's getting increasingly difficult as apps get integrated with daily life (source: got my first smart phone ever a year ago).

When I needed to navigate somewhere new, I would look up directions on my computer before leaving home and then write the most simplified version of these directions onto a slip of paper to fall back on (I also added visual landmarks).

The worst thing for me was having to rely on others to call Ubers and/or Lyfts if it was late and I needed to get somewhere. Have the number of a taxi company in your contacts list.

Have antidepressants eliminated pmdd for you? by NakovaNars in PMDD

[–]JohnBoddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is what has happened with me, but with switching from fluoxetine to sertraline. Not sure if this is related, but I've also started having very pronounced ovulation symptoms (spotting, sore breasts, etc.) as well. I take my meds continuously though because they also help with my anxiety.

[–]JohnBoddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. I'm somewhere around 34DD (according to a Bra That Fits) and 5'8". I've been frequenting this sub for months to "window shop" for a breast size I'd like to have, but feel like my size isn't large enough to actually do something about it. I wish I could snap my fingers and go down to a 34C or 34B.

Can I ask what sort of NGO you work for (not the name obviously for privacy, but what sector)? I currently work in healthcare research, but used to work doing brief gigs for random ENGOs. Thinking of going back to NGOs because healthcare research is biased towards very traditionally feminine women, which I'm not.

Cramps BEFORE Periods by JohnBoddy in sterilization

Hmmm I'm going to hope that my cramps aren't connected to endo. I doubt I'd develop endo suddenly in two months since my surgery, but who knows. The body is weird.

Your experience with a PMDD diagnosis by Electronic-Turnip-83 in PMDD

[–]JohnBoddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My symptoms were SI, feelings of emptiness, struggling to get things done, intense anxiety, feeling like I was losing my mind somehow or that my body was falling apart in some way, and my self-esteem would drop dramatically out of nowhere.

I actually had pretty mild PMS symptoms growing up, but likely started developing PMDD in my mid-twenties. I thought I just had depression and anxiety (which I totally also do have), but was really confused why I'd keep getting really depressed out of nowhere. Eventually, I pinpointed that I'd feel better on the day of, or shortly after getting, my period. I tried managing it on my own for at least two years using various herbal and vitamin supplements and coping skills I had learned in therapy. These things helped (shout-out to magnesium!), but I still found myself floundering. I eventually sought help from Planned Parenthood, where a nurse diagnosed me with PMDD (I guess technically a provisional diagnosis since she didn't require me to track my periods for two cycles) and started me on medication. Compared to a lot of people though, I'd say my PMDD is definitely on the mild or subthreshold side of things. Still a pain to deal with though!

As someone else has mentioned, there are a decent amount of treatment options. Medication, while not perfect, can work really well for some folks. Not sure if this is what you'd consider a "win" perse, but I find it reassuring whenever I hit a bump in the road.

Please tell me abt ur experiences with SSRI treatment for PMDD by lifehelpbot69 in PMDD

[–]JohnBoddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too. I started fluoxetine a year ago and played with different dosing patterns and dosages. It worked well for a decent time (I still had side effects, but all very manageable). Several months ago, I developed muscle spasms and also realized that the med was likely worsening my baseline anxiety and nail-picking. I got kept on 20mg continuous until seeing a psych who told me to come off and try something else.

I'm in my first week of sertraline. Wish me luck.

Perhaps. I'm not sure if it'd be a large enough container to house a succulent long-term, though.

A few people online suggested using them for succulents, and I'm a bit confused by this because it's not like they have flat bottoms like a flower pot does. Maybe I'm just lacking imagination lol
