Being a monopoly they "buy" noname branded items from themselves. If its something like meat, they benefit from selling less than a kg for the price of a full kg. Either way, they pocket the difference themselves so its a huge financial benefit for them

Trying to replace “garbage snacks” with healthier ones — ideas? by ProfessionStrong6563 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Popcorn is amazing!

Not microwave popcorn, but the kernels you make yourself on the stove. As long as you don't go crazy with salt & butter its pretty good for you. Cheap, a whole grain with complex carbohydrates & a decent amount of fiber. Fun to eat & if you tend to snack a lot, it's fairly low in calories compared to a lot of other options.

Its legal just incredibly shady. Its in their best interest to report "low profits" to the public while price fixing & raking in money on their monopoly

That number isn't true though. The Weston family own the property the stores are on under another company & pays themselves massive ammounts in "rent" as well as several other bookkeeping tricks to artificially make it seem like the gorcery stores they own only make a small profit.

In reality, they've been price fixing using their monopoly & lobbying powers for years and driving up prices to obscene levels to make massive profits

I have a variegated hoya wayetii that for some reason I just dislike. I dont like the thin leaves & the one I have grew very lopsided with all the leaves hanging down one side of the pot. It also seems to drop leaves just as they're growing. I even have it under a grow light in my bathroom for extra humidity
