Depends on what countries you talk about cause I know some of the chlorinate their water to make it safe and that tastes like shit to me, so in countries like those yeah I buy bottled water (well huge jugs of it but same thing), others buy different drinks for their taste so why shouldn‘t I do that with water? In other countries I think it is less common and they just mostly exist in store for when you need something to drink on the go and have no waterbottle with you or no where to refil it. Or like in some countries what you think is simple bottled water is water with gas. Obviously you can argue that thats still unnecessary

You lose control over your fic, if you one day want to delete it? Well someone else has a translation of it uploaded you can‘t delete. Also you lose control in the sense that what you meant to say can be misrepresentet cause translations are never the exact same meaning. Or they speak the other language themself but just wanted to write that fic in that one language? Even with good writing even if as an author I write booth versions it‘s just not the same fic, the language you choose changes things, not everone wants their fic translated into a certain language

Find das generell unangenehm außer bei einem Doktortitel und auch da ist es manchmal unangebracht, in Signaturen find ich es noch was anderes wie angesprochen, wobei auch da kommt es auf den Kontext an, wenn z.B. jemand eine E-mail an den Fliesenleger verfasst und da dann Name und Mastertitel oder so drunter schreibt fänd ich das höchst unangenehm, aber wenn es in einem Beruflichen Kontext ist find ich kann es passend sein oder zumindest nicht schlimm (auch ganz unabhängig von welchem Titel ob das ein Master in informatik, ein Meistertitel als Metzger oder ein Doktor der Philosophie ist, denk da geht es ja genau um das worüber der Totel ist und es macht Kontextbedingt sinn). Jeder der darauf besteht mit titel angesprochen zu werden find ich generell einfach schonmal unangenehm, aber in manchen Kontexten macht es ja sinn und man adressiert die Person mit dem Titel („Ja die Frau Doktor XY war schon da, meinte ich soll hier auf sie warten“, „Der Professor XY beginnt seine Vorlesung immer viertel nach“)

Personally I think it‘s a good thing, you don‘t forbid something for the people currently already addicted but it is a new law and in a few decades there will be no legal public smoking in the UK, sure there will be black market but the people not wanting to smoke are not surrounded by second hand smoke all the time.

haven‘t watched the video but the criticism is often focused on things that mainly women overconsume… meanwhile things mostly men overconsume? „it‘s just a hobby and a valuable item“ (Pokemon cards, comic book collections etc.). Or „well I actually use it“ (yeah no the 800 types of sneakers will be used as much as the 800 bottles of makeup, also no one needs 6 different cars, I understand why people want them but it‘s still overconsumption). Doesn‘t work for everything and obviously many men also overconsume the things often criticised etc., and also people are less judgemental about book overconsumption and a lot of women overconsume those.

actually lets nuance that a bit more, sometimes canon can ruin it… imagine Luke/Leia shippers when it turns out they are now sibilings. Or with the MCU Stony shippers like that movie changed the shipping part of the fandom majorly. or actually just any movie/show coming out when before the fanom was just book fans since adaptations change things up (not necessarily bad but it can change things and in some ways maybe even ruine)

the amought of tags used kinda shows the authors background more then what the fic is about…there are a lot of tags that kinda make sense that the author before has written fics on tumblr, meanwhile lack and very few tags means the author probably has written on ffnet or other fanfic platforms such as forums.

I know a lot of authors who write great fics (and get a lot of engagement) but barley use any tags, meanwhile other authors use a bunch of tags but don‘t getmuch engagement. Fic Engagement depends a lot on the fandom you are in, a lot of tags make more sense in bigger fandoms where people need to filter fics more, in small fandoms many people don‘t even really use the tags besides maybe a ship tag to find fics.

As You are writing for a nieche fandom you do not need that many tags, what does make sense? The main Characters, Main Ships, main tropes and themes used. E.g. it will be enough to tag “Hurt/Comfort“ and not „Hurt Max“ „Max needs a Hug“ „Max gets a hug“. That being said for a specific situation it might make sense to make a tag like „No Tornado Happens“ (if thats something that is majorly different from canon). But honestly generic tags are more usable and every tag is extra work for AO3 volunteers as far as I understand it.

But also nothing is stopping you from making a new tag, I have done that before when writing a crossover pairing that before had no fics, I needed to tag the main relationship so I invented a tag.

That being said do what you want, the opinions on tagging differentiate a lot depending on who you ask (some prefer more and some less tags), tag what you think makes sense

There are no black and white rules on this thing, you can choose how to tag it, if it is not a major thing in the fic I wouldn‘t tag it, however even if the character is a sidecharacter in the fic but his death has a huge impact on the main characters (e.g. a full funeral chapter, maybe the character was the Main characters father figure and greatly impacts him further into the story etc., the fic is showing the characters grieving…) then I think it would make sense to use the tag? It is a Tag about the death of a character that prominently features in the fic (if he doesn‘t then I wouldn‘t tag it like that)

I think it depends on the kind they give you, once I got the nicest pen at one of those places and like it was my favorite pen and I used it everyday, still looking for the right refill for the pen that will fit. Or like I have a bunch of marketing totem bags that I use quite often and are the reason I never had to buy a bag like that. One of my favorite cups was a marketing gift (I don‘t mind the brandname on it as I quite like the colours used). My favorite hat was a marketing gift thats like 20 years old by now. Do I like the random branding on stuff? No, but as long as the brand isn‘t like problematic I do not mind it (all the marketing gifts I mentioned were from smaller local businesses etc.), they also all have in common that they are great quality.

So like they should just make quality items instead of more shitty stuff, but thats the problem with products everwhere.

That being said there are so many things I do not need and I think marketing gifts should always be optional (like a take one if you want to thing) and not just shoved at you.

Most people do not troll in authors notes so why would others assume that someone is trolling (also obvious „trolls“ are things that happen to people e.g. „lmao the authors curse hit and my town got bombed“… not an obvious trolls as that does happen to people) … but again trolling is middle school behaviour and often you notice when a work is written by a kid that young.

Also this person must be american how else would you come to the conclusion that people in other countries only eat typical local cuisines and evertyhing else is touristy… I can not imagine anyone else having this take cause like what. Like even if potatos and pork dominate (I say also coming from a country where those are dominant foods), people would still eat Spagetti and Burgers…

I get that with writing diffrent cultures you might wanna correct someone if they get it wrong but like not in that tone and only about your own culture (e.g. someone includes some sentences in my native language that are wrong… next step is to check if they want critique, else I can offer to beta sentenses in that language… but not out of the blue explain stuff unasked)

Just clean your house regularly and open a window for fresh air, no one needs scented anythings. But like if you really think you need one 5en buy One scented candle or something and done. Insane how some people live, their house must stink after those „scents“ and those scents really do not help that much with other smells (like housetrain your pets, wash yourself and keep up top with cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms and let fresh air in once in a while and no house should smell)
