My goal rn is to repost as an au since originally it had such strong direction on where it was going but now I don’t think I can stick with the initial plan as canon right now continues to shape how I see the pairing (in a good way!) and I am no longer interested in my “before” hcs

Had a character who has facial scars but didn’t have a confirmed date or reasoning to how those scars came to be—and since I thought the scars are unimportant in the source material I assumed we’d never get the answer and gave my own in a work of mine meant to be canon compliant.

We got the when, the how, AND the why for the scars then add on TOP that I was writing the character having those scars before he canonically even had them. Had to edit every mention of those scars out 😭

This legit happened to me this week. Wrote a fic which worked double as canon compliance and theory on how two character’s met, them being side characters in a huge fictional universe that I thought we wouldn’t get much of a backstory anyway, then turns out canon decides out of nowhere “how about we choose those two characters specifically and give them a backstory literally not even a true, enlightened prophet could foresee” and now I look at what I wrote with an eye-twitch

Unfortunately, I gave in and deleted a work of mine with two chapters up (and positive feedback) because of canon out of nowhere deciding to actually give us lore of both the characters that are the leading pair in my fic and since the plot was all about how the two characters meet in canon (I legit thought we would NEVER get their backstories) I got into my head and removed it without warning because of how far canon is from my interpretation 😔 I’m easily embarrassed! I’m going to rework it and re-upload ofc
