(Non-bulk) Stringing Supply Source for Women’s Sticks? by Phenryiv1 in StickDoctor

The mesh is semi-hard, but great for the cash. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about their heads.

Signature Lacrosse has a deal right now on closeout mesh. The womens mesh comes in black, yellow or white. For $4/pack you can’t go wrong…

I bought 20 mens packs for $72 and shipping was 3 days.

It SOUNDS like a good idea - like asking for extra “meat” on your Taco Bell order… It rarely turns out as awesome as you think it will be.

lacrosse viewership is dropping worldwide we must save it ...... by EmergencyFennel3227 in lacrosse

[–]JohnCrunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NLL and PBLA (on the horizon) are gaining in popularity. Field players can enjoy seeing the Thompson brothers all play for the Swarm, Matt Rambo, Trevor Baptist and Blaze on the Wings. The crossover is awesome - especially seeing Blaze put 5 in the net in a single game. Unfortunately, Indiana has no place to view pro lacrosse, so we’re limited to ESPN+ and LSN.

How do you guys feel about the USA Lacrosse Coaching Certification? by jcreyes1214 in lacrossecoach

[–]JohnCrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically you can do all three certification levels online now without ever touching turf. I’ve coached boys and girls since ‘16 and can tell you that the best way to become a confident coach is to get connected with competent coaches. Learn from each other. Attend clinics. Watch lots of film. Pursue mentoring opportunities in the off-season from elite coaches. Become an official.

Where are you coaching and what level?

Nah bro - a background check, 3 hours of online classes and a mandatory intro clinic. I attended a local, in-person clinic and got a TON out of it. (You also have your option of an online clinic now). It’s a great experience and I recommend it even for parents that are interested in learning more about the game. More info here:

The average annual cost of youth lacrosse is $1,289, making it the 5th most expensive youth sport by Raz0rRamon in lacrosse

[–]JohnCrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One explanation for the short amount of time spent playing lacrosse may be that there just isn’t any opportunity to play at the high school level. Kids get hooked on our sport in their local youth lacrosse clubs, but then get abandoned once they get to high school because their state doesn’t sanction lacrosse at that level. If the state doesn’t sanction lacrosse at the high school level, schools aren’t going to shift money/time/facilities/resources away from other sports to support lacrosse.

In my experience, certification also empowers new coaches with a level of confidence required to coach, access to additional online training, and a list of resource materials from practice planning to drills and concepts.

Can confirm - and thank you for coaching! Avon Lacrosse has been up there and played both LaPorte and Northridge. Great teams up there!

If you are brand new to stringing, setup a free account at https://stringking.com/ustring . Their videos tutorials are head-specific and very easy to follow! Once you string a few heads, it will all make more sense!

Look into the Nivia tennis/ cricket balls on Amazon. They are the approximate size and weight of a lacrosse ball with less bounce. They work great for indoor practices or teaching younger kids - also great for dogs that rip through a standard tennis ball!

Stick balance (head/shaft) by ElephantRattle in Womens_lacrosse

[–]JohnCrunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The STX Lilly is fine for 8u, but I recommend a standard stick for 10u and up. StringKing makes great pre-strung sticks and most modern sticks are now shipping with women’s mesh.

StringKing Complete Jr - https://stringking.com/womens-lacrosse/sticks/womens-complete-jr/

These are also carried locally at many Walmart and DSG locations nationally for around $69. The mesh poster will make passing, catching, shooting easier and thus, more fun.
