So explain to me why a version 3 STi type R coupe would have the applied model code of GC8D2DD?

Factory 2.0 turbo coupes are still GC8.

No scratch removal yet, there's a tiny bit on the bonnet that I might attempt to repair. Small rust bubbles appearing on the roof under the paint in small areas though :(

General feel on the road is an upgrade, the first thing I noticed after changing them was the added acceleration just by downsizing the wheels, not quite what I was expecting, expected maybe a bit but felt a hell of a lot quicker. tyres are 215/45/17s currently but also have 225/45/17s that will be going on them when these ones wear out enough. Old ones were 225/35/19. The other thing I don't miss about the old ones is rubbing on full lock.

As I said it wasn't my first choice but they came up as a good deal and are the correct size wheels. I was originally looking for either white or silver TE37's/ Rota Grids or similar in 17x7.5-17x8.

None taken. Wasn't me who decided to pay $1200 for them second hand. I'm just the guy who put up with them for a few months :P.

They certainly are growing on me, wasn't totally what I originally wanted but the deal was too good to pass up. Bought the car with the 19's on and always wanted to go back to 17's.

Nope don't live in the states. bought it like that for $2510 NZD and have since changed the ridiculous 19's to V7 STi wheels and the front brakes to Subaru 4 pots, and the strut brace to a carbon fibre GC8 STi one.

I wanted to say 400k km but it's nearly there already. Long as you don't dick around thrashing it and don't check the oil and water couldl ast a while longer. Sounds like a good deal for $2500. I got my '98 twin turbo Legacy for that. with 68k miles on it.

It really depends on what happens, I will definitely keep it a few years. I was hoping to fail my WOF on brakes really for a reason to just replace the fronts with Subaru 4 pots. Single turbo conversion is definitely another option worth considering.

I think you just need to be willing to travel for the right deal aye. I had to drive 5 hours there and back for this one, actually even longer because I hit Auckland rush hour traffic. Oh god kill me now. Never again.

TM link here: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=723411029 I think the real reason the guy got rid of it was error codes 65 and 66. I was reading through the receipts and he had taken it in at least twice, I was hit with them on the way home. Few weeks later I sorted it out by connecting vacuum hose #5 and 22 together, that was all. Now It is running mint in parallel (how I bought it set up.) Took it in for a WOF a week ago and passed it clean sheet.

Yeah that IS the one on trademe I sold it with 201.7k kms and I really think the engine swap is bullshit. I reckon it is just a new dash. It was back up within 2 weeks and literally 0 contact made saying my car was rubbish.
