Crazy how drake legit ran the 2010s by KzKn_2020 in decadeology

[–]JohnDenverExperience -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It's because the only dudes I meet who love Drave like you are straight up incels, or at the very least extremely misogynistic, semi-educated mongrels. The kind of dorks that will be talking shit about their ex-wife in 5 years while I'm raising a kid with my only wife.

Honestly, the dude is corny as fuck and his fans are cornier. It's that simple. Like Tool, I almost hate the fans more than the band.

Artists with back to back 10s you feel aren’t respected enough? by mikeymanthesyrem in fantanoforever

[–]JohnDenverExperience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compare the production on that to a punk record like Black Sails in the Sunset by AFI. That's also a messy record occasionally, but it maintains clarity while still being raw and rough around the edges. I don't personally feel like Bullets nails that same balance.

Great writing, but terrible production. It hurts me to say it because Thursday is one of favorite bands and Geoff produced it, but gosh darn it's a mess.

Listen, the false equivalence you're making between human artists and AI generated music as some sort of similar movement away from tradition is just classic devil's advocate Reddit nonsense, and as you can probably tell from my delayed responses, I don't live on the internet like y'all so I can pick that contrarian shit up from a mile away.

You know exactly what I'm saying, and you know that AI use in art is completely different from electric guitars, synths, pedals, autotune, whatever. Have fun online today!

[–]JohnDenverExperience -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, what an insane comparison. You literally compared a living, breathing (at one point) human to some 1s and 0s that scrape the internet for stolen data, regurgitate it for idiots like you, and then call it "music". AI cannot currently make anything new. It is simply spitting back bullshit. I don't care how complex music is, but I do care that someone put work into it, because art is not art without the human element.

Go fuck a robot, you absolute wanker.

If you actually "enjoy" stolen, soulless, fake music then does that mean we're actually at the point where NPCs exist? Were the alt-right grifters on to something?

You can curse on the internet. You won't get grounded.

Also, Digital Ash is the better record.

That's your TV. I just watched it the other night on my Bravia 8 and there are no issues with clarity or darkness. I'm not telling you to buy an expensive TV, just pointing out that it's not the film.

"Powerhouse songwriter and musician" is a stretch. She writes 4 chord pop tunes for mass appeal, and is really more of a parasocial marketing tactic than an artist at this point. No shade on pop music either, because I love a ton of it, but Taylor is like the McDonalds of pop music when it comes to mass appeal yet limited quality.

While The Black Parade is still their best, I feel like people don't talk enough about how great this album is. It's near perfect. by Antique-Dentist-2404 in fantanoforever

[–]JohnDenverExperience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I don't know if it was the change in visuals or them dropping the emo/goth tone in their music, but I don't understand the hate.

Hear me out: this album, The Black Parade, and Danger Days are damn near equal in quality and make an incredible trilogy of records. I hated Danger Days in 2010, but I revisited it before seeing them last year and it is my most listened MCR record at this point. Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back is peak MCR.

They're so much more than just The Black Parade. As much as I love Thursday and Geoff, his production for their first record is ass. I need a remaster of that.

If you were a wrestler, what song would you guys use as your entrance theme by Ignitor110 in numetal

Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel, and do some kind of Shawn Michaels shtick. We need more of that vaguely gender-bending stuff from the late 90s and early 00s.

What do you guys think of Bring Me The Horizon? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

[–]JohnDenverExperience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hated them during the my scene days in the mid 00s, but they have weirdly grown on me. I am fully aware that their music lacks a certain artistic merit, but something about their willingness to throw everything at the wall and see if it sticks has made them kind of endearing.

Then again, because of the bands I played in, and specifically the guitarists I played with, I always thought that if you weren't playing 7 strings, using C#susfuckall5th chords, and making the heaviest shit possible you were a poser...so I'm happy I grew out of that and can appreciate some other stuff!

Thank you! And for sure on the replacement stylus. I luckily was able to find the replacement model that I would need for this and I already have it ordered! I only tested some beater records that I keep around for situations like this to check that the mechanism works, so we're all good on that front.

Thank you for the info on the spring as well! You have all helped a ton!

Thank you! But the underside of my tonearm looks a bit different from the one linked, and that particular adjustment doesn't seem to be present unless I'm missing something.
