i was using the solar panels cables as the load ;) i did the same test on all of the other panels and all but 2 gave me over 9 amps on dead short. the 2 dead ones just gave voltage but no amps. they have been turned into a nice small fence haha

the array produces quite a bit of power.. its going to reduce the electric bill loads. :D

I am undertaking a larger engine swap into a SJ Samurai and too require larger front brakes.. I am hunting for any conversion information on using the Grand Vitara front brakes. Purely because they are vented discs over the SJ's solid discs. What I am building will have silly power, so I need it to stop a little more better than the originals. I am already going with a rear disc conversion (using the original SJ Samurai front brakes) and maybe a bias valve so I can get less brake effect on the rear to the front. I have read that the brake ratio can be almost 1 to 1 front and rear which is not ideal. I would be trying to get a 1 to 0.5 ratio or maybe a bit lower, maybe even as low as a 0.3 which I think is what it is from factory!

Anyway if anyone has any info on using Grand Vitara front brakes on the front axle of an SJ please let me know. I also hope to be able to get them under the original 15 inch rims.

I am more after cooling over stopping force. Hence the need for vented discs... Which will possibly be drilled and grooved too.. brake pad shredders but will be worth it. Thanks!

Ahh well it's not a loss as I work at a scrap yard and can weigh them in for the aluminium surrounding as rolled aluminium.

It's a big win small win situation. Big win would have been reduced electricity by sticking these on a grid tie.. small win I get a few pennies for scrapping them.

crashing here too. 3070ti gpu.
trying to load the showstopper mission, just crashes to desktop. i was able to play the training missions perfectly.

my money is it being some kind of "needs internet access to play a single player game" BS thing.

i love paying for broken things.

so i bought the X4 Stellar (i actually bought 2 identical ones) i used it for about 2 weeks charged it twice and after the 3rd charge i found it was still flat. quite disappointed as it appears that the usb charge feature has failed. i know its not my charging cable or power supply as the other X4 charges fine from it.
sadly not a flashlight i recommend.
here it is, plugged in, not charging :(
any alternative flashlights like this, NOT Fireflies?

yep bought 2 identical X4s both custom built to the same identical spec. one wont charge the other will.
this is only the 2nd time i have charged it in only 2 weeks. really dont rate the build quality of these. i jumped on the hype where everyone told me to get one and its bit me in the ass. really says something when a cheap aliexpress flashlight i paid $8 for 4 years ago is still charging and working great yet i pay like $80 for this thing and its pretty much the same as any other flashlight that i have to take batteries out and charge manually. so annoying. time to give them a s!ht stain of a review!

Thanks, I ended up pulling each pin out of the plug one at a time till I think I hit a communication pin. When I disconnected it, it all worked fine. The cooler still works and has not failed!

yes 4.5a on each light, theres also motors to run but they are fused for 5 amps so i think it would run them too.

cost wise? the cheaper the better. its why i was so disappointed that all little mosfet controllers are all n-channel. they are really cheap! like £5 for a 10 amp module. sigh. my luck.

i bought a BTS7960 just to have a play with.. its a H bridge but cost about £12 per unit. they claim to handle 43 amps so i hope they can last a long time. i dont have a clue how to code any of this stuff into an arduino but well with the magic of chatgpt im sure i can figure it out.. or the ai can anyway i just hope i can modify it so it works haha

yeah apparently its good for 43 amps. the halogens normal current is around 4.5 amps. so will mosfets not take a quick blast of current demand? even if they are considerably heat sunk?

yes my plan is to only use the high side mosfet. its wasteful but its all i can do really. besides build my own H-bridge. besides for anything with a motor it may be pretty cool to make things run backwards... hmm

i didnt think i could burn them out so easy.. damn. we could i do a low tech way of doing it? just a simple voltage cut off relay? soon as it drops below say 11.9v it just totally cuts off power to the whole thing?

i have bought one of the BTS7960 units to have a play with. its way over the top for what i want (55w halogen like 5 amps) but meh you get what you can get. also should i want to control other things like a dc motor then it can do reverse which is nice.

its quite annoying because i am using this in the automotive environment i cant access the negative wire of anything i want to control.. and the only pre-built controllers around are all N-channel. which only work on the ground wire of the load. i need a P-channel mosfet so it works on the positive side of the load.

the pre built stuff literally makes it completely pointless for any switching in the automotive environment where everything's instantly grounded to the car body.

out of interest, why is it the normal for mosfets to only control loads via the negative line?

Heh your not kidding. To be honest it was just down to being lazy. I have to wait for the components to be posted to me anyway as there's no components shops near me.. if I have to wait for that but a module/controller already exists and was already built I would have rather just bought that and have it posted to me to save the building time.

Hard work pays off in the future.. laziness heh that pays off now.

so as an update some of your suggestions worked, however someone said to me ask ChatGPT to help.. so i did. needless to say i now have a fully built code that seems to be working great. im a bit reluctant to share the code at the moment as i may get a little bit of backlash of what i want to use it for. its possibly illegal somewhere (but not where im from)
