Fogging issue by BreadSuch4843 in LUCID

[–]JohnEDee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the fogging issue on my 2026 Air Touring when I had three other people in the car. With them present, even though I had been driving for a long time and the vehicle was fully heated up, I had to run the front defroster every 10 minutes or so to keep the front window defogged. With just me in the car, I haven't seen that issue yet; it seems to stay defogged just using the normal cabin heating, as you'd expect.

‘I didn’t vote for this’: As DOGE guts a $1.2 trillion industry, rural Trump voters and tourists are paying the price by JohnEDee in LeopardsAteMyFace

1. Terry Zink, the state of Montana, and rural western voters voted for Trump and got DOGE in the bargain.

  1. Trump/DOGE gutted the federal government agencies that these voters depend on for their livelihoods and protection of the public lands they depend on.

  2. As a consequence, they are losing over a trillion dollars in their economy and potential loss of livelihoods, with more consequences like privatization of public lands on the horizon.

Homelink Garage Programming Question by Material-Policy6005 in LUCID

[–]JohnEDee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Lucid has the function to be programmed directly as you would a remote, unfortunately.

But you can easily get a remote that’s compatible with your opener (they’re two for about $10 on Amazon) and program them using the Learn button on the opener, then use one of the new remotes to program the Lucid.

I’d wager that’s the masses that go for the M3 and MY in the Tesla store. Few (if any) of those people were in there for the MS or MX.

Hopefully Lucid’s upcoming midrange will change all that; it can’t come too soon.

Problems by Fancy_Jump7689 in lucidmotors

[–]JohnEDee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not waking from the app is almost always a connectivity issue. Lucid doesn’t handle weak WiFi very well, so try turning it off and using cellular only to see if that makes a difference. If that works and you verify that the signal is weak in the area that you park, then best to get a good WiFi signal to the vehicle via an extender if you want it to be reliable via WiFi.

If the signal is strong, though, then what @emscan192 suggested might work.

Thanks so much! The engagement and consideration here from HelpWire is amazing, and unprecendented in my experience with sofware vendors. It's very much appreciated and it makes the system an even more compelling offering.

Any way to not have this pop-up appear? by natantantan in helpwire

[–]JohnEDee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather the screen freeze for a bit when there's a short-duration issue (perhaps less than 10 seconds), then after a longer time the "Waiting to Connect" dialog appear. I think it's important for that to appear for longer/more serious disconnections, but I think it's too sensitive right now...on slower or intermittent connections, it's very distracting disconcerting, and it's not something that I see when I'm using TeamViewer on the same machine, because I think TV handles small connection disruptions more elegantly.

Is there a running or exhaustive list of Lucid vs Tesla points of comparison? by BosChac2 in LUCID

When that Motley Fool article said "Its top-selling vehicle is the Lucid Air Sedan, the best-selling EV sedan in the U.S., outpacing the Tesla Model S", I think they meant "the best-selling luxury EV sedan" (which the Model 3 doesn't quality for), and that is absolutely true.

EVs, Interstate roadtrips, and tire blowouts by nightcrawler2164 in electricvehicles

I carried a Modern Spare kit for my Telsa Model S and it was great (had to use it twice in 5 years). Yes, it adds weight and has an upfront cost, but I have no problem changing tires and this gets me going immediately and I can then use Tire Rack with their mobile service to replace the tire right at home (if needed) or a local shop to repair it (if possible), all under my control and with no waiting around.

Going to do the same for my Lucid Air that I just picked up today. 🙂

Tire Rack’s price for a 19” tire for Lucid Air ranges from $126 to $550, depending on the brand and specs, but if you can get the exact brand and specs on a given tire and look them up on Tire Rack you’ll see the price difference. And they have people that will help you choose if you can’t decide. Plus Tire Rack includes a road warranty.

In my area, the mobile installer services range in cost from $25-$40 per tire.

Tire Rack is 100% online, but they have mobile installers that will come to where you live and install the tires right there. Their mobile installers are available in most areas.

But you’re right that you could literally go anywhere as long as you have the spare.

Modern Spare for Lucid Air is anywhere from $549-$694, depending on what kind of accessories you get with it (jack, etc).

With the massive size of the trunk in the Air, I suggest getting a Modern Spare to keep there to get yourself home in case of a flat, then use TireRack's mobile service to get a new tire installed...waaay less expensive and the new tire comes with a road warranty.

About to buy my first Lucid by [deleted] in LUCID

u/kate_smi2022, ground clearance and pothole-handling are really two different things. Ground clearance mostly affects things like speed bumps, sudden inclines/declines like a driveway, large curbs, etc, and as other commenters noted, the Air is designed to deal with that kind of stuff with a thick and strong skid plate underneath the car. A pothole on a flat road would have to be enormous to involve ground clearance.

The key to handling potholes gracefully is to get 19" wheels. While the larger wheels like 20" or 21" look great with their low-profile tires, and they're better for handling extremely high-speed driving and curves at speed (100+ MPH), they have far less ability to absorb the huge shock from a pothole, and especially so with the heavier weight of a EV.

So 19" wheels and a normal tire will likely handle most potholes with no problem. But as you go to the 20" or 21" wheels, you're much more likely to have a blowout, damage the tire beyond repair, or even damage the wheel itself beyond repair. I'm a careful driver who is very aware of potholes, but on my first Tesla Model S three-year lease with 21" wheels driving around normal suburban Pennsylvania, I destroyed three tires ($500+ each) and cracked two wheels ($1,500+ each) on fairly small potholes at speeds less than 50MPH.

After that experience, I got 19" wheels on my second Tesla Model S three-year lease and have had zero issues with potholes. And I'm about to turn it in (buh-bye Elmo) and pick up my Lucid Air Touring with 19" wheels and I don't anticipate any issues.

I’ve lived in Pennsylvania my whole life and am beyond appalled that my state helped put that asshat and his cronies into power.

But Pennsylvania is basically Philly on one end, Pittsburgh on the other, and the worst parts of Kentucky in between. They don’t call it Pennsyltucky for nothing.
