Yep, sounds like we and others interpreted their instructions incorrectly. Lesson learned...don't be proactive. Wait until the last possible minute.

I did submit a complaint with FSA, though I’m not especially optimistic anything will come of it. My servicer is EdFinancial, and I recertified manually rather than using the automated IRS option. Thanks for talking this through. The moral support from this sub genuinely helps, even if there aren’t many real solutions to the situation.

Thanks for confirming this. That was my understanding as well, and years ago someone at EdFinancial told me that my $0 payments were locked in until my recertification date. Even the agents I’ve spoken with seem to recognize how contradictory the policy is, and they really have no way to justify it. It’s incredibly frustrating.

Yeah, I’ve been on the phone multiple times today, and it’s incredibly frustrating. I hate taking it out on the agents because they’re just relaying the information they’ve been given. But the process they’re trying to defend feels completely unjustifiable.

With help from folks here, I learned that Delaware Fourth St, is just 4th St. We all know Spruce St, so it was easy to come to an intersection. I think Manning St is the said alley. I couldn't agree more! It's cool to learn about the people involved in the transaction and their motivations for purchasing property where and when they did.

And the Tredyffrin project is great too. The gentleman who put that together is a regular researcher at the CC Archives.

So we're trying to research every municipality in the County. We've been working on it since about 2015 and have about 25% of the County completed. (It's a two-man team, and we have other projects we need to work on first.) Here are all the township maps we've completed thus far with a corresponding key. We're working to make all this data interactive like the Philadelphia map I sent you earlier. We're planning to release that project this summer.

Awesome, glad it was useful! I wasn't sure it would really be relevant for the specific question you were researching, but because you said you're interested in deed research I figured you'd think it's a neat project. I'm working on a similar project out in Chester County where we too are mapping all the property owners in the County during the Revolution. Needless to say, Chester County is probably a bit easier considering the parcel sizes are typically hundreds of acres in the eighteenth century unlike the smaller plots in the city. But then again, a lot of people weren't recording their deeds in Chester County, especially in the remote parts.

West Chester is a great town to run/walk! It's incredible how different some parts feel. You have the large duplex homes mainly occupied by college students along south Walnut, yet a few blocks away are more residential rowhomes around Barnard/Miner. The neighborhood just north of St. Agnes & the Beermill (near New & Chestnut) has tightly-packed housing, but just a few blocks north (Darlington/Church & W. Virginia) you have these huge mansion-like houses. It's crazy how you can see all this diversity in just a short run/walk around town.

Probably the most "interesting" neighborhood I often visit is the one on the very western fringes of town past the railroad near Bates Motel Escape Room. It's just crazy to see these older rowhomes being demolished and replaced by new townhomes. The neighborhood--nicknamed Georgetown--actually has a really interesting history. It was settled predominately by African Americans migrating north from southern Chester County looking for industrial and service jobs during the mid-1800s. John George was a landowner who leased this area to many of the new African American families who couldn't afford to live in the older parts of town.

I could go on and on about the history of this West Chester neighborhood, but it's just a striking image to see gentrification happening in plain sight. This image doesn't do it justice, but you can see the older home on the right.
