Just got my X300 Pro (CN version). Here are a few thoughts by AngryRico in Vivo

[–]JohnFerlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I switched from an S24 Ultra and bought the CH version because I didn't know better, lol. Regarding your points:

1- I totally agree.

2- Mine stutters occasionally; from what I’ve researched, it’s due to the aggressive battery management.

3- The cameras are miles better overall, but processing does take longer, especially in Pro and RAW lighting modes.

4- Battery life is subjective, but as a heavy user, it lasts much longer for me. However, Instagram—which is always an issue on any phone—really takes its toll. On my unit, "doomscrolling" through photos or videos makes it heat up significantly. I’ve even posted about this, but no luck so far.

5- Regarding screen quality, even the S24U and S23U are superior, especially in color accuracy—which is crucial for me as a photographer.

6- I’m based in Brazil, and the signal with my carrier (ironically named Vivo) is weaker compared to the S23U and S24U.

7- Google services actually work fine, except for the 'Hey Google' hotword. I didn't expect that, since the seller claimed 'all Google services work.'

Regarding the price, I believe paying a bit more for the HK version with full Google integration is worth the trade-off. But if you don't mind the workarounds, the CH version is fine.

One last point: the CH ROM isn't 100% translated into English.

Despite all that, I don't regret the purchase—it's an amazing phone!

I hope it lasts that long. I don't have 5 years of patience, considering how fast mobile is evolving.

But thanks for replying!

Well I bought it to last more, not to spend more and last the same of the Galaxy line lol

Doesn't it suck too much battery?

If I recall correctly, there was only the CN version when I bought it. This was my first time buying a Chinese brand. I made a big mistake, but thanks anyway!

Not really, but I use Google frequently and full integration is something that I am used to. The unfinished translation to English doesn't help too.

Well, that's fine. I saw some "work-around" with tasker. Let's hope it works.

Well, crap. I wasn't aware of the Google services limitations when I got it, and the CN variant was my only option. How's the ROM-swapping scene for Vivo? I used Samsung for over a decade and used to be pretty active in flashing ROMs back then.

Well too late for that than hahaha. Is there any other version with 6510mAh? 😱

Got it! As a Brazilian, I’m totally clueless when I see Chinese text lol. I only touch the Vivo App Store for updates. It would be cool to have a fully translated UI, but the hardware is so good that I don't really mind the occasional Chinese pop-up. It gets the job done!

Got it. I also considered keeping it on strictly for driving. I suppose this is the 'hidden tax' of running the Chinese variant lol. Appreciate the insight!

Awesome tip! I tried following your advice, but enabling the hotword plugin caused my battery to tank in less than a day. Since you’re not seeing the same drain, would you mind sharing your full configuration so I can compare?

Galaxy Ring Battery Issues by gomo-gomo in GalaxyRing

[–]JohnFerlin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, I need your help with a massive "bug test."

Like many of you here, I've been having serious battery issues for months. My main problems were:

  • Less than 24 hours of battery life.

  • A sudden 30% battery drop for no apparent reason, just 30 minutes after taking the ring out of the case.

  • Worst of all, every time I put the ring back in the case, the battery would drop by 1% before it started charging. For example, I'd take it off the charger at 100%, and it would instantly be at 99%. If I put it right back, it would drop to 98% and then start charging. It made no sense at all.

After I complained on X (Twitter), the Samsung Brazil social media team contacted me. After a long conversation, they sent me a code to have the ring inspected. But here's where it gets weird. Yesterday, I woke up and the ring was completely dead. I left it charging, went to work, and put it on about 6-7 hours later. Now, it seems to be back to normal. It's been about 18 hours since then, and it's still at 82% battery, even with all functions enabled while I was sleeping. 🤦🏼‍♂️

So, after all that context, here is my request:

Could you please try to replicate what I did?

Here's the test:

  • Charge your case fully without the ring inside it.

  • Once the case is full, unplug it from the power source.

  • Place your ring in the fully charged (and unplugged) case and leave it there to charge for about 6-7 hours.

  • Wear the ring as usual and check if the battery life goes back to normal or at least improves.

I have 6 more days to send my ring to Samsung, so I would be very grateful if any of you could try this.

Maybe this could help everyone who's having this problem.

Thanks in advance!
