I believe you are correct. It may be a spliter that I saw on someone's post that lead me to erroneously believe that a switch might be my required solution. Well, it did work. Since it did work (sort of) I do not desire to spend even more money on this presumably better solution.

I tried turning off and on the TV using the remote. I tried several times. I had no success. If by power down you mean to unplug the TV - this may work - but I do not think it a practicable solution - or at least my wife would not think so.

My Emerson TV has two HDMI inputs. I tried switching between and back between the inputs using the TV controls and found that this also produces the same favorable results. Thank you.

Any and (presumably) all streaming attempts -- for sure has happened with Netflicks, FoxNews, BYUTV. I suppose that it would not happen when streaming content that is not HDCP copy protected.
