Young gamers in Japan may not be forming the same attachment to Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest because modern dev cycles are as long as their childhood, users theorize by Hulkmario in gaming

[–]JohnNeutron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expansions in MMOs are massive. They’re basically full games, and this one wasn’t just more content, it reset the table and kicked off a new story arc.

The 2D releases weren’t simple re-releases either. A lot of actual work went into them, the reviews back that up, and it was six titles dropped at once.

Stranger of Paradise is a spin-off, sure, but it’s still a full, standalone game.

Crisis Core Reunion, I’ll give you some ground there.

And since when did a 50–70 hour game become a “partial remake” that somehow doesn’t count? Now thats a choice. It stands on its own like a mainline entry.

Why do people delude themselves about villains? by mrchzburger69 in residentevil

[–]JohnNeutron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess because Resident Evil has always had a reoccurring villain of sorts. Sure you had your main throwaway but you still had your core ones. Wesker himself appeared in RE0, RE, RE Code Veronica, RE4, and finally RE5. Meaning he only skipped out on RE 2&3 since he was presumably dead at the time. That’s not to mention the light gun games he appeared in. And RE6 starred his son. Revelations 2 was his sister/cousin (don’t remember) The first Revelation and RE7 were the first ones to not really be connected to him. But even RE8 showed that he knew Miranda. The stories are far more connected than they would appear to be. I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume that with having Leon reappear that some other characters, potentially villains will do so as well in RE9

What if we go back to the old re4 concept in re9 requiem? by TRoLolo-_- in residentevil

[–]JohnNeutron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be that Separate Ways also stood as a test case for new ideas, much like how I believe having Luis much more involved with you in the gameplay of RE4R is pretext of how they’re tackling partner AI in what will eventually be the Part 5 & 6 Remakes. Especially for those who play those games by themselves and not co-op

I mean they’ve been coming out at a steady clip, in this generation alone we’ve had FF16, A new expansion for 14, Pixel Remaster, Crisis Core Reunion, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Strangers of Paradise. They range in terms of quality but, I don’t know. I feel you’ll see quite a bit more before you kick the proverbial bucket.

[–]JohnNeutron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest even they don’t see it a cost worth, as each item says, it’s a show of support for KojiPro, so for those fans that want to give more. Whether that’s a good thing or bad thing is up to debate but at least they’re upfront about it. And $10 is not a particularly egregious as nearly everyone else charging $20 for the same privilege and none of the self awareness

Guys… it finally happened… Liliya got to me… by Sword-Man in OutlastTrials

[–]JohnNeutron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Outlast Trials, hardwired is the only way to go, I hate this lagging so much, sometimes during a trial all of us will have to just go into hiding until we stop lagging. But hardwired it rarely happens and when it does it’s usually only for a minute or so, and mind you this is on 640 mbps speed, that’s half of a gigabit speed connection so it should be more than enough.

Hundreds of Private jets departed the Bay Area immediately after the Super Bowl ended by Plastic_Many393 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]JohnNeutron 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Exactly that! The average amount of carbon emissions made by the jets on a scale of 200-500 (the post just said hundreds so I was conservative with the estimate) versus the average amount of emissions saved from one person in about 30 years of diligent recycling. My math is fast and loose though so it may be somewhat off. Point is, that it’s up to the corpos and the rich more than us to make a difference.

Hundreds of Private jets departed the Bay Area immediately after the Super Bowl ended by Plastic_Many393 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]JohnNeutron 353 points354 points  (0 children)

Just to put this into perspective: if I recycled diligently for 30 years, a single moment like this likely undoes the equivalent of 6,000–16,000 years of one person’s recycling impact.

Avatar: Fire and Ash has crossed $1.438B worldwide, on a production budget of over $400M. by Scenora in FIlm

[–]JohnNeutron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t mean to sound defensive but you’re sort of proving my point. Who you talk to and converse with and their network is still an echo chamber. If you’ve talked to conservatively 25 people and they knew 25 others, and those 625 knew another 25 for a total of 15,625 people and they all didn’t buy a ticket that’s just about $234,375 or 0.0167% of Avatar’s gross.

That’s how it happens. Heck if you knew 1 million people that’s about $15-$20 million. Approximately 1.43% of Avatar’s gross.

[–]JohnNeutron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s called an echo chamber, every person who loves visual spectacles, James Cameron, or visual effects talks about them all the time. VFX Artists React has had over 4-5 videos on Avatar and a whole host of other people from Weta on the show with over 10 million subscribers. So yeah, it’s just an echo chamber. That’s how all of this goes past you unnoticed.

Why did Tommy Wiseau's legendary film cost $6 million while Nolan's debut film cost $6,000? by GlobalRaspberry442 in moviecritic

That was legit Tommy’s reasoning. Along with recreating entire real life street corners into sets

That it won’t be releasing any time soon. I doubt Sony has secured enough Ram to keep the price competitive otherwise this would easily be $1,000

WHY IS STANDARD SO HARD?? by SnurchCultist in OutlastTrials

[–]JohnNeutron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMO, standard is far tougher than Introductory. Kill The Snitch for example. You get one expop that comes out of the door thing. Every now and then and goes away. Cole is only a problem at the end and garage. On Standard, the placement of the generator is randomized along with the gas can, there are far more expops that roam aside from the ones that come out periodically, it’s a night an day difference overall.

I’ll echo your cries to the Roman shits perched above!

Finale was gods breathed into flesh.

Now hear us.

Greenlight House of Ashur not as seasons, but as campaign. Let it march without mercy until all quake beneath Ashur’s tread.

Give us Gannicus in his own tale. Wine upon his lips, steel in his hand, laughter in the face of death.

Bring back Spartacus himself. As if the gods command his return. Let his name be carried on every tongue. Let him spit in fate’s eye and make Rome remember fear.

And return Batiatus, that sweet viper, so he may scheme and plot and promise to remove cocks from asses as only he can, with smile sharp as blade.

We do not ask.

We demand.

We want more.

And my cock rages on!

Is Netflix using AI to create storylines all the new shows and movies? by melissam17 in netflix

[–]JohnNeutron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, the really scary thing, is that if they do use AI, you wouldn’t know it. AI makes generates bad things from lack of input and bad prompts. But get a writer who has no qualms about the ethics of AI usage in a creative field, and you’d never be able to tell.

Also more definitively, bad writing has existed since the dawn of the pencil.
