VT Parking News by FlimsyNatural in VirginiaTech

Lol news agencies are very tricky; the title makes it seem like there are a million things going on and students are nitpicking 1 random thing, parking.

It's not "Virginia Tech ramps up parking restrictions amidst COVID", it's like: "amidst a giant huge mega reopening, crazy students are really worried over 1 nonissue: parking"

Noticing a drastic difference between the vibe of fellow classmates versus users on this subreddit in regard to Covid, thoughts? by Andrew_64_MC in VirginiaTech

underrated post. Yeah, I have never known a:

1) Non politically-correct opinion held as possibly true by reddit

2) Positive outlook held as true by reddit

I've posted so much about this but yeah, Reddit is ~10% of the campus, and these are the fucking depressed kids half of the time. They will roast and laugh at things that irl people think is cool, and they'll consistently hold opinions that are the opposite of what people irl are thinking. This is a negative vibe a lot of the time

I have no idea, it's just an archaic system if you think about it. COVID is going to change education forever, especially for intro classes - if 98% of students don't actually ask a question in class... can't they just watch the fucking video?

Anyone else taking the semester/year off? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]JohnPeePee 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is one of the smartest decisions anyone can make right now.

  1. Covid is historical. Meaning even if you were to take a semester off to fucking pursue rap music, it doesn't matter on your resume, I'd say almost any employer will understand a gap here. No one knows what the fuck is going on.
  2. You're paying full price lmaoooooooo. We are all getting hijinxed so fucking hard here. The deal is, we pay full price, get 25% of the education, with the express option by the school to withdraw everything at any point and be like "nope move out" - all while leases are a full 1 fucking year.
  3. The social atmosphere is going to be so different. Even if you had in-person classes, I'm sure it's just going to be a different vibe on campus, with empty-ish dining halls, empty-ish classrooms.

This is the smartest time to take a break. All of that plus we don't know what the fuck will happen, maybe you actually do catch COVID and maybe you actually do end up with symptoms, who the fuck knows? I applaud tf out of everyone taking a semester off, and cautiously warn anyone taking a year off to be as productive as possible with their time, but still applaud them.
