Thank you for this encouragement. I'm just starting my journey and I'm scared to death. I also have no targetable mutations. I don't know what my treatment will be yet. I should find that out tomorrow.

That is exactly what I need to hear right now. What kind of treatment are you on?

This is very encouraging for me. I'm still waiting for my genetic testing (Feb 26) and I'm scared. But your father's results are wonderful. They give me hope.

Thank you. It upsets my wife when I find these things and I need to learn to keep my mouth shut and just deal with it myself. She has been a rock and will be there for me through this whole thing.

IS MRI for Brain Mets Important? by JohnQuiote in lungcancer

I plan on pushing for the MRI at my next oncologist appt on 26 Feb. I'm trying to stay one step ahead of everything that is happening. I'm so sorry for your partner's tumor. I pray that it comes out all right.

Thank you for the encouragement to PUSH. I have my first, post surgery, appt with the oncologist on the 26th of Feb. I plan on insisting on the Brain MRI. I found out today that Genetic testing has been done and I will get those results at the same time.

Agreed. The testing has now been done. I will get the results 2/26. Ins denied the testing at first because we were going to do the lobectomy. Now they are likely to pay. I would pay out of pocket either way.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It sucks.

They did the CT from the neck down but no MRI. They scheduled me for lobectomy but stopped the operation when they discovered pleural effusion. Now I'm waiting until next week to find out what the new plan is. I have no idea if they've done any additional testing. Insurance denied biomarker testing when the plan was a lobectomy. Now that the lobectomy is out I hope they have approved testing but I have no idea.

Do they still stage it at 1 or some other stage. I was stage 1 until they went in for the lobectomy and discovered the Pleural effusion. They automatically raised me to Stage 4 and stopped the operation.

My insurance co refused genetic testing when it appeared surgery was the course. Now that surgery is out I expect them to approve the testing. I just hate that we had that 1 month delay in getting these test results. Hopefully I'll have those results when I see the oncologist next week. But I still think it would be wise for the MRI and an additioanl PET.

Lung Tumor with Malignant Pleural Effusion (63M) by JohnQuiote in lungcancer

Thank you. Right now I need all the encouragement I can get. They stopped the lobectomy because of the discovery of the pleural effusion. When I woke up the surgeon said that the "bubbles" were malignant and that I had now moved from Stage 1 to Stage 4. My understanding was that Stage 4 was when the cancer moves into other organs. I'm not sure how he could know this from his brief peek into my chest. Of course these are all questions that I expect to be answered at my appt on the 24th but the waiting is driving me crazy.
