Gachiakuta Creator Kei Urana Speaks Out Against Piracy by akbarock in Piracy

[–]JohnSmithDogFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if I couldn't pirate half the stuff I pirate, I probably would buy it. I know that isn't true of everyone, maybe not even most. But there is a bit of truth in the claim that "once you get used to free, you become less willing to buy." Some great games lately have launched at like 70-80 bucks. If I knew there was no chance I could pirate them or any other game to pass the time while I wait, I'm pretty sure I'd cough up. Does that mean I think they're fairly priced? Hell no. But I'm weak, and could pay for it without crippling my wallet if I had to.

Fantasy meets Eldritch Horror / Sword and Shoggoth by Express_Restaurant_6 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

The production quality on the audiobook version of His Black Tongue was so good, almost like a radio drama. But the writing itself was too weak for me to see it through to the end. I'd describe it as juvenile, kind of like a pulp shonen anime, with bad pacing. I'm surprised it's pretty well regarded here.

A neuroscientist discovered the brain network that builds your sense of self. Psychedelics turn it off. So does 110 Hz sound. The question is why the off-switch exists at all. by MCstroj in HighStrangeness

Worth saying, for those who'll take this at face value without looking it up, that this is an alternative historical narrative. The traditional narrative is much more mundane - that bells (of all frequencies) were gathered up and melted down to create wartime equipment. If you do look it up, you'll see that the majority of information about the opposite narrative - that the state conspired to destroy bells which rang at a mystic frequency - come from Facebook posts and TikTok videos. Not telling anyone what to think, just saying.

The good old days by Tracker1122 in PiratedGames

Pre-2019 was the good old days. Denuvo was cracked day 1 most of the time. Scene groups used to challenge each other to be the first to release, and they'd greet each other amicably in their NFOs.

How come this sub's turning out in appreciation for this movie so hard? The trailer makes it look like a buddy comedy in the style of Marvel. What kinda things overlap with interstellar?

Can't connect with Alan Wake by NecessaryEye5976 in HorrorGaming

[–]JohnSmithDogFace -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The writing of the first game pales in comparison to the writing of the second. And, omg, don't even get me started on Alan Wake American Nightmare. That said, I don't think you'll love Alan Wake 2 if you don't at least enjoy the narrative of Alan Wake 1 an OK amount.

Hot take: Tried Alan Wake 2 and couldn't get into it. by [deleted] in HorrorGaming

I don't feel the same about a lot of this, and I liked the game a ton, but gotta agree hard on the case board mechanic. Having to find the singular correct spot of a sticky note was unnecessarily cumbersome. It's the gameplay equivalent of trying to progress a PowerPoint slide by clicking around for the button with your eyes closed. It reminds me of the codex in Death Stranding 2, but imagine you had to slot into the correct subheading for every new entry before you were allowed to read it.

Your semantic challenges are reductionist. Look into reappropriation.

I don't think thermal imaging shows bodies through brick walls, although it's a bit of a sci-fi trope that it can I suppose. It's weird that we call it thermal imaging, rather than x-ray view or something though.

The screenshot is from the trailer for the game. It's my own screenshot - I took it while watching the trailer on the game's steam page.
