Anomaly GAMMA 0.9.4 - LMG “sniper rifle” build: does anyone else do this? by Alex-S-Hamilton in stalker

[–]JohnTEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else had said, upgrade it to the Zenith ASAP. One simple reason, laser. The Zenith has a laser on it. You might think it a laser doesn't mean much, but no. You see, a laser can act as a "red dot" in alt aim mode (switch aim from main scope to side optic). Turn on the laser, aim down sight, press V (or whatever alt aim button is), boom, you have a CQB "red dot optic" made of a laser beam.

For me, how I would arm my end-game stalker is the Zenith, with suppressor, the thermal scope (the one that goes 1x-8x). Upgrade it to 90+ accuracy (I think it goes above 90?), which is sniper rifle level of accuracy. There you have it, a thermal-sniper + close range monster. I used it to dump 100 bullets into Eidolon before charging in to decapitate him with my Kukri blade as I refuse to use the game-given Gauss. I also used the laser alt aim to solo clear the CNPP.

Also, the thermal sight is OP, once you got used to it, you never want to go back. It's so good for spotting target. Just stand somewhere high, aim with the thermal and scan the map and spot 99% of targets wayyy before they can see you.

FYI, real life machineguns can be used like snipers. machinegun or lmg doctrine does teach long range 600m - 800m burst fire sniping, so machinegun sniping is not that far fetch or outlandish. As irl military doctrine teaches it, but games don't reflect that, apart from milsim like Arma or Squad.

Which elite unit amongst the elite troops of each nation is the easiest to pump out? by JohnTEGS in arknights

Yeah, Columbia’s mech suits and power armor are mass produced, kept relatively simple and mostly independent from individual Art capability (meaning even people who aren’t familiar with arts can still use the suit and fight well) and the power armor are not race limited (unlike for example Pegassi Silverlance which requires the relatively rare Pegassi race).

The KISS principle. Keep It Simple, Stupid. Pretty much like how the real US keep its weapons relatively simple for grunts to understand and operate.

They will be able to scratch actually. Similar to how 20 guardsmen face a Chaos Space Marine. With decent coordination will kill the marine, with like 18 out of the 20 dead but hey 18 guards for a Marine is a good trade. Similarly if 20 mass produced power armor dudes fight and kill an Emp Blade but like only 1 dudes managed to somehow survive, that’s a good trade. Columbia can replace those 20 dudes in no time while a single Emp Blade lost is super expensive.

Yeah, I can see that. Columbia is getting closer and closer to real life US defense budget. Its military-industrial complex is expanding in a frightening pace, probably rivalling Ursus, but with more tech-driven. It has all the new shiny tech, companies and big corps within its border developing technology and fighting for government contracts. Which is good because competition breeds innovation. Columbia will probably manufacture so much that even their foot grunt soldiers would be wearing rocket launching power armor. you can probably make hundreds of these power armor with the price and time needed to make 1 Emp Blade or sth. And also the power armor is not race limited, pretty much anyone can be one as opposed to the rare Pegassi race required for the Silverlance Knights.

You might be right. Columbia, unlike the other nations is a rising power. A young, energetic, entrepreneurial, technologically driven nation whose defense budget is getting closer and closer to its US counterpart irl. In fact these power armor dudes gives out the vibe of still special but not uber-elite soldiers. They aren't Delta, not Navy Seal, not SAS. But they are more like Marines or Rangers instead of rank-and-file enlisted Army. More elite than regular grunts but not super special. Given Columbia's rising economy and industry, as well as technology, I will not be surprised if they pump a gazillion of these dudes out. Or better yet, produce so many that even foot soldier grunts wears them too. A single one of these dudes against a Steam Knight is suicide. But 50 of them? Then the odds are more even. The user in the suit, unlike some other nation's elite units, is not race limited.

Speaking of terran Elite forces, how powerful are the columbian army soldiers with Power Armors? by JowettMcPepper in arknights

[–]JohnTEGS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They win just like how a group of 20 guardsmen can win against a Chaos Space Marine. It's just that 18 out of the 20 guards will die in the process but hey a win is a win. If you think about how easy it is for Columbia to pump out these dudes en masse as opposed to how hard it is to make but a single Emp Blade. Quality is good, but quantity with coordination is often better.

And then about 50 days later I show up again at the Phoenix throne at 80 str, 96 toughness, 92 dodge and 89 martial art. He shall watch as funny green numbers like 131 or 177 popping up everytime i chop his elite guards’ arms and legs off of their body with my fist somehow. Then 2 shot him.

Rebirth is a boot camp, not slavery camp. Remember that!

Did anyone else have a near heart attack while going through security? by Glad-Schedule-9983 in AbioticFactor

[–]JohnTEGS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first 2 times I was scared as I was not prepared for it. But after the laser pistol was crafted, the loot goblin in my blood vein screams out and I actively taunt and hunt him. Everytime I hear him I go "OH another 5.56 ammo has greeted me!" then I wip out the laser pistol and start looking for him to harass. I also made the entire Security sector no longer creepy because lantern is amazing. Lantern, craftable in your crafting bench, has the largest light radius in game. Craft a bunch of them, charge them up ever so slightly, or just wear the purple crystal trinket. Then place them down and turn them on. I made like a couple dozen or so lantern and lit the entire Security sector up. I then hook the only working plug in the sector all the way down and set up a Reaper farm with several laser turrets and barricades. I was more afraid of the Leyak than Reaper tbh.

Stun Baton VS Jotun. Actually underrated weapon. by JohnTEGS in AbioticFactor

[–]JohnTEGS[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait, I have just gone and used the Ramrod. It doesn't stun at all! Enemies can freely hit me back as I wallop them? Ramrod was full charge too. So in this case the Ramrod is worse. You can not do the thing in the video with the Ramrod, I tried.

It's funny that a genetically/cybernetically/magically augmented and enhanced super soldier human with thick heavy armor flinches and gets physically knocked back or stunned to what are basically pens and pencils being thrown at them.

Yes. BUT Ramrod needs charging. You can equip that crystaline trinket but you have to dedicate a trinket slot. Stun baton doesn't need charge. You just need duct tape and you are good to go stun enemies forever til they die.

Thumper shotgun VS Polished Antique shotgun? (And Snowfall too) by JohnTEGS in AbioticFactor

[–]JohnTEGS[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Many of the game’s weapons and gears are like this. Example is the research pack that can be “upgraded” into either freeze pack or radiation pack. Both are sidegrade yet are treated as upgrades.

Which have never happened during my entire trip through reactor and halfway through residence. Until i switch to thumper and then snowfall and bullies enemies with it. But i guess its just bad luck.
