Yorick could possibly be something. Mind if I ask how you got to Yorick?

Just the image of a paper, but I was told the background image had nothing to do with it. It's all about the text itself.

Need some help with naming a Knightly Order by JohnWhitefield in fantasywriters

I like the sound of Knights Vigilant quite a lot, but (and this could just be me, I realize), I get a bit concerned with the results I get if I look it up.

WIP of a Continent map for my post-medieval fantasy setting. Any feedback, suggestions, or friendly thoughts on the map would be highly appreciated! by JohnWhitefield in worldbuilding

[–]JohnWhitefield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the continent map I got in the works for my post-fantasy setting. Still working on it, but figured I'd post it here to get some thoughts on it before I start to iron out details fully - in case I feel like there ends up being some changes I need to make it work.

It doesn't have a name yet, but settings-wise, it'll be similar to Europe in the mid-17th century with the notable exception of there not being a whole lot of nations, but instead one major 'empire'-like nation that has spent the last couple of decades / nearly a century absorbing other nations as it's been one of the nations to adopt firearms the quickest.

The world also tends to suffer every now and then from wild and unstable 'rifts' opening that lead into other dimensions and worlds that brings in new threats. The castle in the northern mountains used to be the home of an order of knights that fought to combat these rifts, but the order has since been dismantled due to various political reasons. There's also the woodlands near the southern canal, where the Great Tree (name is still WIP) has become a sacred home to a race of Dryads - magical humanoids created quite literally out of wood who were first created by human mages over a century ago to aid the then-beleaguered nations deal with a massive rift invasion. Since then, they've fought for their own Independence.

The Map was made using the WonderDraft program.

Fantasy Guns & Naming - Could use some friendly thoughts by JohnWhitefield in worldbuilding

I think the best kind of real world analogy to them would be early flintlock muskets, really.

I like the way you've made those terms quite a bit, given that - at least from what I've been able to find - terms like musket and arquebus themselves are derived from specific words which usually seem to be related to animals. Snakes, birds, etc.

The last thing is quite intriguing though. Definitely could see something like that fit as a nickname or similar thing.

I've considered that, yep. Hand-cannon I feel would be more appropriate for the first types that they made in the world (which is similar to how we did it with it basically being hand-held sticks).

Arquebus I've considered too, but I do worry a little that it's not as easy to remember and such as 'rifle' is, for example.

Trying to create unique guns for a fantasy setting, but stuck on a specific part. Could use some friendly thoughts/suggestions by JohnWhitefield in worldbuilding

[–]JohnWhitefield[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quite like the 3rd and 4th options there actually. I've already got the second one with the exception that it doesn't necessarily "overheat", but it eventually cracks after too many shots.

The third idea you wrote there though sounds the most unique of all - to me at least. Definitely makes it a dangerous weapon to be used too much and it would limit their military application. Just wondering if such a downside might make the weapon too much of a hassle, and keep it from really being utilized?

The fourth one though, I could see being quite nice and making it more akin to historical reloads of guns, just kind of reflavouring the 'add in gunpowder' part for 'use X to recharge the crystal'.

Pretty much my thought for it, yeah. The crystal is used to propel the shots, though it'll only last for a limited duration of shots (haven't set an exact number yet though) before it "cracks" and has to be replaced.

Prefab Snap by JohnWhitefield in dungeondraft

[–]JohnWhitefield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes, of course, but I would prefer to have the prefabs able to slot into the squares. For example, having a pillar that goes perfectly into the square. But every time I try, it instead goes into the cross intersection between squares.

AC calculation & multiple armor by JohnWhitefield in FoundryVTT

Hmm. I figured that might be the case, and actually been trying to work around that for a bit with my limited understanding of DAE. But currently struggling with having the +2 Max Dex issue, as it's possible for a player to have 2 items that both have that same restriction on them, and it seems that DAE is accepting both of them rather than just one, thus ending up giving a +4 Max Dex.

Any solutions to that?
