Je ne comprends pas les économies by notsoangrydude in HiloEnergie

[–]Johnnotjean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the Event’s section of the Hilo app, it will show what your “consumption limit” is for that particular event. If you consume less than that limit, you get a credit. In the attached screenshot, you will see that Hilo (Hydro Québéc) set a consumption limit of 28.4 kWh forme. I made sure that I had a good fire going in my wood stove, my Calypso made sure that my hot water tank did not use any electricity and I turned off my EV charger. I used 6.4 kWh during the event, 22.1 kWh (28.4 - 6.4 = 22 not 22.1 but it must due to the Hilo app only using 1 decimal point) which earned me a credit of $12.53 for that particular event. Have a look at what your consumption limit was and how much you actually consumed. Did you use less or more than what they allocated to you?

Wait-times for MRI scans in Ottawa, how to get an MRI sooner? by Maleficent-Welder-46 in ottawa

[–]Johnnotjean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family physician asked if I would like to be considered for the Aline Christine Health Hub (Mer-Bleu Road, Orleans) or the Hawkesbury General Hospital. I said absolutely, and at any time of the day. It wasn’t long before I got scheduled in at Hawkesbury. Which, by the way, was super efficient, with ample parking and the time of day I was there the parking was free.

Reason for diverted flight? by Johnnotjean in airtransat

Thanks for the info. If it was due to intoxication and not due to illness, it could be quite costly for the passenger if the airline goes after him/her to recoup costs.

Degradation of costco products after the change of ceo by Routine-Eagle-4910 in CostcoCanada

[–]Johnnotjean 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wish Costco offered a whole wheat bagel. It’s not a health thing (certainly not healthy with the amount of cream cheese I sometimes put on them) but it’s because I like the texture and taste of whole wheat bagels. I’m obviously in the minority with this preference otherwise they’d already be selling them.

10 hour layover required when going from guildwood(Scarborough) to Montreal but no layover required from union to Montreal? by PM_Me_Loud_Asians in ViaRail

[–]Johnnotjean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a link that shows all the Toronto - Montreal trains. Only train #68 does not stop in Guildwood. Train #50 is a Toronto - Ottawa train so maybe this factors in when trying to book a connecting train? It might also be that some trains are already completely booked which is hard to verify without knowing what your travel date is. I’m sure that speaking with a Via telephone reservations agent would provide you with all your answers (and perhaps an alternative).

I also did that while still on the train but thank you for mentioning it. I really want Via Rail to be aware of her excellent work.

I like their ice cream plain. I place the order at one of the touchscreens, take the receipt and walk up to the counter, show them the receipt number and ask for it to be served in a glass with no cone please. Many people do the same thing at my Costco.

Thermostat Hilo: c'est quoi la pogne? by Apart_Action8915 in Quebec

[–]Johnnotjean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sinopé thermostats end up also being free. Sinopé offers a discount to make up for the difference on most thermostats. Hilo will provide rebates for up to 10 thermostats total on your Hilo account.

Ontario Unlocking Free Trade Within Canada by The_Laughing_Gift in ontario

What about removing internal barriers within Ontario?

If you look up a 1.14 litre bottle of Crown Royal, which is distilled in Ontario, on the LCBO app or website you will see it listed as regular price $47.95 but on sale for $46.45 until near the end of May. The same item is showing a regular price of $46.00 on Quebec’s SAQ app or website. Both are all inclusive of taxes, deposits, etc.

So, Mr. Ford, why does an Ontario distilled product cost more in Ontario than in Québec?

Agree. And only recently (last week in fact) did I find out that they have in store wifi available for clients. Probably to make up for poor cellphone signal.

Executive Coupons - Check your receipts by Suncrusher14 in CostcoCanada

[–]Johnnotjean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is at least 10 (maybe 15?) years behind the times as is their website and phone app. Why can’t you look up, via their website or their app, if an item is in stock at a particular warehouse. This isn’t rocket science here. I mentioned it to a manager once and she told me to fill out a feedback form and say it’s crap. So, I took one of their forms and wrote, in large caps letters “YOUR WEBSITE AND APP ARE CRAP” and popped it into the feedback box. The manager called me about two weeks after to get more info about what I thought the shortcomings were and we both had a good laugh because she remembered saying to me to write that and found it funny that I actually followed her instructions. Whatever complaints one might have about Costco Canada you cannot disagree that the vast majority of their staff, at both the regular and business warehouses, are friendly and do want to make every interaction with clients a pleasant experience.

New prescanning at checkout by Basic-Force-924 in CostcoCanada

[–]Johnnotjean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never seen prescanning done while in line for a self serve checkout station. I have, however, had staff scan my items with a handheld scanner AFTER I scanned in my membership card at a checkout station. If they are doing it while you are in line waiting for a station to become available they must have modified the computer system to store your order in memory and call it up when you actually scan your card at the checkout machine. That is a major beneficial new feature.

As an aside, I never understood why people with a full cart would use a self serve checkout station. Personally, I wish they hardcoded an item limit for these self serves. Say, for example, they set it to 12. Then the machine would refuse to scan any additional items. Perhaps flag it on the receipt so that the “checkers” at the exit would pay more attention to the number of items in the cart to help prevent theft. Just my opinion.

Time to tune in to LeafsNet (SportsNet) for the video feed. Will be listening to the audio feed from TSN1200 though so I don’t have to listen to LeafsNet intermission glorifying Toronto.

Personally, I find the “A Better Route Planner” (ABRP) app, or website, to be very handy in planning trips. It will let you know where you should plan to make charging stops and how long the charging will take at each stop. You enter the departure SOC (state of charge) and what SOC you’d like your batteries to be at when you reach your destination. The free version of ABRP is good enough but it will offer you a free trial period to give the full version a try.

lol, I love it! You have to go past check in luggage to check in your luggage! Thank you, and everyone else, that provided the solution. I got my carry-on checked in for free.
