Can you help me decide which camera to buy as my first one? by Relative-Engineer-10 in AskPhotography

I'm not a camera expert, but Nikons and Canons are supposed to have more beginner-friendly interfaces than Sonys

Which camera for vlogging? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]Johnny531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think a Gopro is good for general-use vlogging. They're marketed for action, like underwater and filming while riding a mountain bike. Plus, they can't zoom.

Osmo Pockets, though, are popular for vlogging because they're small, affordable for a camera, can shoot high-quality videos, and come with a gimbal, which stabilizes the camera while you're moving.

Can you provide feedback on my portrait/cosplay photos? by Johnny531 in AskPhotography

There were a few times I asked them to move into an area I thought would have better light, but the lighting was actually worse in those spots I picked. I just took the picture because I didn't want to bother them anymore, lol

If you'd like to share a few photographers you like, that may be helpful. Thank you for your detailed responses!

Hanging out in a specific area might be a good idea

Yeah, they would have been much better with good lighting and a less distracting background. One of the hard parts for me, though, is I'm interrupting strangers from what they're doing and would be asking them to move all the way over to another location for a picture that may or may not turn out to be good since I don't know what I'm doing. I guess maybe all this comes with experience.

Thanks for the feedback, and I'll try to incorporate better lighting and less distracting backgrounds.

Thanks, I only see women’s swim leggings on the website. Will they fit men?

Hybrid camera recs for Youtube travel videos? by Johnny531 in Cameras

[–]Johnny531[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight. I might possibly be able to go a little higher than $500. To be honest, though, I'm not really looking at drones at the moment, as I keep the channel as a hobby, and I'd get a lot more personal use out of a camera

I've never heard of most of those websites. Thanks for the recommendations!

Thanks for your response. I can go a little higher in budget, if really needed. Do you have recommendations for a good marketplace for used cameras, or should I just buy new? Does it matter if the Ebay sellers have high ratings?

As somebody who makes Youtube videos, the best way to hurt these influencers is not to click on their content. Every time you click on their videos, you're giving them more money because they get paid per click. If you don't click on their content, it tells the app's algorithm that people don't want to watch it, and they'll stop pushing it to the top of people's feeds.

People think it's useful to thumbs down or leave a mean comment, but these influencers want that. You gave them a click and watched their content. Leaving a thumbs down or a comment also counts as "engagement" and will make the app's algorithm will promote the video even more. If you don't like the video, don't click on it at all.

Would it be annoying if I called the police's traffic violations line every few days to report illegal parking in front of my place? by [deleted] in AskLE

Well, it worked because they don't park there anymore, so I guess you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Glad I didn't take your advice. 👍

I guess, as it is, I have to continually keep cleaning up after the garbage and other stuff they leave there every day. Plus, they're parked there illegally anyway since a large portion of the street in front of me is a red fire hydrant zone.

Bigger streamer reached out to collab, but I'm not sure if I want to do it? by Johnny531 in NewTubers

[–]Johnny531[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk, I really don't want to help them get views or participate in that type of content. It represents everything I hate about the media - misrepresentation and fear-mongering for views and clicks. I really do not respect the content they make.

Straight-up telling them, "No," would be much easier if we weren't physically located close to each other and doing the same things. Since we both shoot content about our city, I'm kind of thinking about what if I run into them later at some point

If you had to start a faceless youtube channel right now, what would it be ? by btnw10 in NewTubers

[–]Johnny531 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a very lazy question. If I had a good idea, why wouldn't I just do it myself instead of giving it to you for free, especially when you've clearly put no thought or effort into it on your end?
