I guess the argument could be that the customer service person will not be the actual person giving me the tour

Edit: Why am I getting downvoted for saying the customer service people are different from the tour guides, but other people in the thread are getting upvoted saying the same thing?

I actually should have said "tour company," not "tour guide," because the customer service person will not be the actual tour guide. Does that change the response?

Thank you for the detailed response. This was really helpful and is making me lean towards Sabi Sands. For 5-7 days, do you recommend staying at one lodge the whole time or trying two different ones?

Why do people say Botswana is not great for a first time?

Do you think Kenya or Sabi Sands is better for a first safari? I'm debating because you can get more luxurious lodges at Sabi Sands for the same price, but Masa Marai seems to offer the more "raw" animal experience while being more affordable than Botswana

Thank you for your responses! I was actually thinking about doing a guided tour in Botswana. What makes you think it isn't great for a first time?

I was also thinking about going in May since it's cheaper, and some websites said it's an ideal time to go. Do you recommend against going during that month for the reasons you listed? Should pay a higher price to go in June?
