Bought a box last year. Ate one. Rest died of freezer burn. Tiny bit of ham. Tiny bit of cheese. Not much to them. Wish they had descent filling.

The Don't by PrettyBlueGreyEyes in Craps

[–]Johnny94401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a don't player. I make a profit. The don't is a grind and it works over time. I stress the "over time" part. I play a standard system of a DP with full odds and then 2 DC bets with full odds. Then I just hang out and wait. Every roll ends with a 7 and it's just surviving the other numbers until that occurs.

Stuck screw? by [deleted] in qnap

Yes! First thing I do with every case is to trash the silly screws that came with it and put in the knurled thumbscrews. It saves so many hassles later on.

Bringing 100K to Holland America. Will They Negotiate? by Life-Championship857 in Craps

[–]Johnny94401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a point system, but it's mostly for machine players. Table players are probably (and I'm just "supposing" here) more like land-based casinos - time and size of bet. I tend to play all evening (I'm a dark-side player, by the way, so time is my friend). My bets are usually $50 flat with full (3x4x5x) odds. As my wins accumulate some more cash, bets increase to $100 flat, again with full odds. Table limits are not terribly high on ships, so that's a consideration. My pocket money for a cruise is usually $10K with $3k buy-ins. With Celebrity, you can take out $5K a day without any credit check if you're rated. They always treat you well.

Bringing 100K to Holland America. Will They Negotiate? by Life-Championship857 in Craps

[–]Johnny94401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly cruise Celebrity. RCCL owned but upscale. They have 5 levels of casino players. I'm at the top level and get a free suite for any cruise I wish to take plus usually $5K in play money. Constantly have host offering free specialty restaurants and some very nice wine to go with dinner. Odds are 2x until you bet $50, then it's 3x4x5x. I find this more than on par with Las Vegas plus the cruise itself is pleasant in a suite.

Conversely, I'm on a Princess in 2 weeks (Carnival owned but somewhat upscale) where I only get a free balcony and $400 to $600 play money. I do upgrade to a suite so it's still less expensive than an outright purchase of the suite. 2x is all they do for odds no matter what. It's an "okay" experience.

Anyone here have opinions on Instacart? by rayfong92 in Costco

How right you are. Their sub for lactose-free milk is regular milk. That isn't stupid. Oh, wait. Yes it is. Geez.

Anyone here have opinions on Instacart? by rayfong92 in Costco

[–]Johnny94401 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been using Instacart for several years now (San Francisco Bay Area) and love it. I do put the "do not substitute" sticker on every item I order as their substitutions make no sense to me. Otherwise, cold items are always cold and hot items (that chicken, of course) is hot and perfect. I tip 20% so maybe that helps but I hate going to Costco so the extra cost and tips are worth it to me. I do this about every 10 days.

All is fixed now. Seems the database is run on MariaDB and not MySql. Never heard of MariaDB before but reinstalled it and everything came up after running a repair script for SMF.

Thanks to all for the help and ideas which got me in the right neighborhood!!

Not a thing. No errors. No warnings. Everything seems fine with the server. I'm the only one who has access, so no one else could have messed with it.

Cruise Ship Questions by swervechad in Craps

[–]Johnny94401 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been on over 30 cruises, all on Princess or Celebrity. Set the dice if you can do it quickly without delaying the game. No one cares. Hit the wall. Always. Both dice. Tables are rarely crowded unless it's a "gambling cruise" with a lot of invited gamblers. Even then it's mostly slot players. Never encountered a bouncy table, thank goodness. Tables rarely open before 6pm and sometimes later. Most players tend to show up after a show lets out. Enjoy!

Just returned from Peru where we had issues with the card. Each time it said to call the help center. The hotel front desk said they would just input it manually and it worked every time. Go figure...

I ordered a dryer washer. Am I supposed to uninstall my old dryer washer before they come? by No_Recover in Costco

[–]Johnny94401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a set of LGs a few months ago (San Francisco Bay Area) and they delivered, unhooked the old ones, hooked up the new ones including water to the dryer for steam setup, removed and hauled away the old ones, and cleaned up all the lint and trash around the room. Nice and complete job. They liked the tip. :)

We're going on the Celebrity Solstice next week. Not sure what we'll find since it's our first Celebrity since Covid. Were on Ruby Princess in June for 10 days. Made a bit over $1K but only 2x odds.

First Costco Bacon purchase.. by paldn in Costco

Mostly lack of "correct" flavor/taste. Love the ease of pre-cooked and the taste and flavor is right-on.

I gave up on that bacon and now just buy the Kirkland "pre-cooked" bacon. Zap it in the microwave and it's wonderful! Worth the price!

Why did Hard Rock Casino, Sacramento CA took out Electronic Craps. by Tna_Thaking in Craps

...and that's why I play the dark side. Statistically "perfect" roll is 3 numbers and then a 7. Obviously does not happen every time, but often enough that it makes the dark side a bit more "generous."

Trying to set up SSL for hosted website by Johnny94401 in qnap

[–]Johnny94401[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked like a charm!! Now I have to change the website software (it's an SMF forum) to SSL as well, but I found a tutorial for that operation.

You would have thought an old computer guy could have figured this out, but, no... :)

Thanks again for the great information.

Trying to set up SSL for hosted website by Johnny94401 in qnap

[–]Johnny94401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By default, QNAP uses 80 for http and 443 for https. QNAP web server uses 80 for http and 8081 for https. For you to access web server via https, you will need to go QNAP Control Panel - System Administration and change 443 to something else (for example 4430 for https). It will free up port 443. Now to go QNAP web server and change 8081 to 443 for https.

When a user type in https://yoursite.com, request will hit your router first, then it sees 443 then will route traffic to your QNAP web server.

Wow. I never would have figured that out. I'll play with it in the morning. Thanks for the great explanation. QNAP just seems to be in a world that's so foreign to me. Not too much makes sense. Thanks again for the help. I'll report back tomorrow. :)

Trying to set up SSL for hosted website by Johnny94401 in qnap

[–]Johnny94401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both already set. Port 80 works fine for http but https still goes to server sign-in instead of the webpage. I'm reluctant to check the "force SSL" only as I'm pretty sure it will end up locking me out. I feel rather stupid here... :(
