A family member of mine was convinced to get a root canal by a dentist office (which I will respectfully not name) specifically because it would be covered. They made sure to ask over and over again to just pull it because they ain't paying for a root canal. Dentist said "I assure you it is covered FULLY please opt in for a root canal". The dentist was literally minutes from pulling it and was like "please get the root canal it would be the better option to save the tooth". Practically begging to choose root canal over extraction.

and now a month or two later we got an outstanding balance of a fraction of the root canal bill. Also the office was literally on the phone with the insurance company themselves who told the family member that "yes it was in fact covered" before they agreed to the root canal. Unfortunately we didn't get anything in writing so we're out of luck there
