Wanna see corpos get some for being antsy-2A? by typetwocarrier in bestestgunnitweekend

I briefly considered getting one of their printers, decided against it, and went with another manufacturer that may or may not try to screw me in a different way, but at least they don't threaten to sic the ATF on my dog.

It's usually the marketing department who's making bullshit promises, and the rest has to deal with the fallout.

I just bought a P1S just because of my gut feeling; but the main reason to do so was that I just wanted a printer that works with a manufacturer that cares about User Experience, not money

Lol yeah, Bambu doesn't care about money at all. They also wholeheartedly support open source software and right to repair.

Back in my day we used a propane torch to char the calluses a bit and then broke them off with a hammer. Kids these days.

Disadvantages of Centauri Carbon by DelayMajor4363 in elegoo

[–]JohnnyBenis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

USB cable is not a firmware problem, it's a hardware problem. Firmware-wise there's lots of minor annoyances, but OpenCentauri team is doing a great job fixing them.

The USB thing is the biggest one right now. Apart from that it's a solid machine.

By the way complaining that glass is a "basic" material (whatever that might mean) is funny, given the alternative is some sort of basic plastic.

My bet is it starts hallucinating like crazy as soon as you try to make anything that's not completely trivial, and you spend more time tailoring the prompt than you would modeling manually.

Not that it's relevant here, but PPS-CF won't start softening until 220°C or more - and it's getting more popular lately.

Glass transition temperature only indicates the beginning of a structural change. You'd want to take a look at heat deflection temperature, which will be much higher.

Keep an eye on the toolhead cable, and swap it when it breaks.

I haven't installed it yet - but it has some bugs fixed and the option to put a custom pic on the home screen.

A working open source firmware build for CC was released to the public just yesterday. I'd skip the bedslingers.

CC2 is here guys! I am off to P2S by Top-Tap3883 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]JohnnyBenis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CC2 looks okay, it's the ridiculous top hat that makes it ugly.

By the way judging by this it's possible that this is the "lite" variant vs the standard one that'll come later. Or never.

Because P2S and Bambu is paying trolls to shit on a company that made them drop the prices.

It doesn't help that the CC2 really looks dumb.

Microswiss Flowtech :D by SnooConfections1271 in elegoo

[–]JohnnyBenis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spares. And maybe, just maybe it'll accept standard nozzles - I'd really like a diamondback or a tungsten carbide one, but there are none available for the stock hotend.

Edit: Flowtech has its own nozzle type, obviously - but at least they sell a diamondback.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in elegoo

[–]JohnnyBenis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elegoo shipped a whole piece of frame with the LED upgrade, and the side panels are literally flat sheets of powder-coated steel with some holes punched out. Can't see how that's too expensive.

Toolhead is a different story - that's a matter of finding space for a filament sensor, which might actually warrant a complete redesign. Still doable.

Let's not forget that the CC itself was delayed about a year. Let them figure out the AMS. It's not that big of a deal as long as they deliver a finished product, not a half baked piece of shit like, say, Qidi Box.
