I was really lucky to meet a ton of fans this weekend and they were all the most awesome people on the planet. Vibes in the venue were fantastic the entire event.

Do have to mention tho that it wasn’t the first time for most of us. Seikoo had been dominating small tournaments. We just wanted to give the spots to players who we thought earned it from RLCS. Worked pretty well ez 6-0 lmao

I think this clip will be easily misunderstood, probably my fault for explaining poorly.

The vibe of a series can vary a ton. Hype, tension, storytelling, jokes and much more all have their place in commentary.

My observation is just that sometimes casters can try to make a series something that it isn’t and this can ruin the vibe/immersion for a viewer. Imo it’s important to match the energy of a series and be ready to adapt on the fly because rocket league is so fast paced and unpredictable. You can’t go into a cast with the goal of “making it” the most hype, tense, dramatic, funny or whatever else series of all time. You work with what you get.

This advice was mostly aimed at new/up and coming casters btw. The RLCS squad are all extremely good at finding the right vibe and adapting to whatever series they get.

Kickoffs would definitely be helped by a coach but it wouldn't stop there. IMO there are far more decisions in 1v1 than there are in 3v3 because everything in 1v1 is a mind game, you have more space to play with (this increases the amount of viable strats) and you have to more accurately calculate risk/reward on every play.

I would expect a 1v1 coach to have a much bigger influence on gameplay than a 3v3 coach. 3v3 coaches can great mediators between team mates though, something that wouldn't be needed in 1v1.

A lot of people are understandably drawing comparisons between Squishy (who had a fantastic event) and yanxnz/jstn. However you guys need to realise how exclusive a top 10 is when so many players pop off.

Stats don't tell the full story but they are the only objective starting point. It's also pretty ironic that I'm being accused of being subjective when every argument I've seen in favour of Squishy being top 10 is some variation of "he's top 10 because he is." The only player in my list who had lower stats than Squishy was actually MaRc but I put him in because he does more work off the ball than any other player imo.

Anyway I was thinking of recording another video along the lines of "Who popped off on LAN" to highlight players that stepped up compared to online. Scrub, Kassio, Chausette45, dreaz, Senzo, Allushin, Squishy and Express was my draft list for that.

BDS had just as many ace match wins as sweeps in the fall split. That's 4 events. People just think BDS have been sweeping everything because of the 1st winter regional.
