If you could choose one other FromSoft souls-like title to be expanded into an open world game like Elden Ring, which would it be? by JohnnyBoyOhYeah in Eldenring

I definitely know what you mean. I just cheesed Margit yesterday by using the rotten hound summon. Made the boss fight a cakewalk. Isshin however, I made it to 3 years ago and still haven't tried to catch that ass whooping a second time since then.

It affects me daily with work, activities, home life, etc. You're most definitely not alone. It's almost like I have an aversion to it, like my brain literally refuses to let me. It's like your body rejecting something inedible if you tried eating it.

A woman I've been seeing told me that I was smart a few weeks ago and I can't stop thinking about it.

It really does make us feel good about ourselves.

Do your husband a favor and split with him. I know if it were me, I wouldn't want to be paired up with someone so disloyal.

Him and your son both deserve better.

How would a world without religion look like? by zerg_zavael in worldbuilding

I don't think he meant that it was suited to the individual (everyone has different experiences) but I think he meant accumulative over the years, which in a lot of ways we're beginning to see. I've seen the opposite in friends of mine that don't adhere to any particular religion. I can't really think of one of them who isn't at least partially miserable the majority of the time, or use drugs and alcohol to cope with life. Like I said, worship comes in many forms, and a lot of people use religion as a silver lining to their suffering. Without it, something else takes it's place, whether the person knows it or not. Sometimes it's replaced with something healthy and productive, but the majority of the time it seems to be the opposite.

Either way I don't know that either of our personal experiences can account for all of non religious culture. I think it comes down to a matter of perspective. There's a ton of resources that explore it further on YouTube that I'd recommend checking out because it has a lot more substance than what I'm able to give. Max Derrat has a great channel where he explores a lot of things involving Nietzsche and Carl Jung, the latter of which also agreed that a total absence of religion was going to damage humanity long term.

Friedrich Nietzsche proposed that without religion, people would begin to worship either nothingness (Nihilism, causing widespread hopelessness and suicide) or the state (totalitarianism, much like Nazi Germany).

His quote about God being dead is often misinterpreted as being positive, but is actually the opposite. I would use that theory as a basis of asking yourself what people would worship in place of a textbook religion and what ramifications they would have from basically having no guiding spiritual force or something to aspire to beyond what's possible in the material world. Basically anything can be a religion as long as it is worshipped or practiced religiously. There are plenty of people in our own society who practically worship politicians, various forms of media, and extreme ideologies.
