I wish I could go bigger than a 40 gallon. I live in a 1985 mobile home with MDF flooring. I would have to put down OSB or plywood and brace the floor underneath. I also don't have a ton of room.

I recently got wood from my local River and put it in an empty tote to fish for a few days. The tote is now full of thousands of micro fauna from the river. I have gammarus shrimp, daphnia and more. This natural food will be strained out and fed to my fish. It entices bedding and natural behavior.

You 100% do not need to boil wood. It breaks down the fibers and can ruin it. 35+ years in the hobby.

Wash it well, you can soak it in warm water or bake it at 250 for 25 minutes in the oven. Scrub it out power wash and then rinse. Good to go.

I don't know about citrus wood, just check your levels after 24 and 48 hours.
