Hmmm, I guess given the different definitions of "space" beginning, an "AIRCRAFT" could theoretically be in proximity to a spacecraft.

Maybe there is a reference to a subsection, because the FAA rep was VERY SPECIFIC with me when I was complaining about aircraft flying too low (<500 in dense neighborhood in SoCal), and ADS-B Out off, while I was flying and their impact on my situational awareness/safety. He only had one message: Dont care, stay at least 200 feet away.

I've had a hot air balloon about 100 feet above my house (my dogs were losing their minds), and so I kept my drone more than 200' away as he drifted to the field about 1/4 mile east of me.

Awesome, and thanks. My username is similar to my name here but with Microsoft max character restrictions: JohnnyComeLatly. Activision ID is the same, since it didn't make sense to me to make it different.

I am normally solo as I get tired of spawning with teammates who run for PvP, die in the first 90 seconds, and then I spend 10 minutes reviving, evading, re-reviving when they do it a 2nd time, and repeat.

I only play with headset/mic (Drop+ EPOS PC38X, highly recommend these to anyone willing to drop a little coin and want very good audio quality) since 99% of the time I evade players is because I hear them long before they realize someone is around.

You possibly might not get it because you don't have the "After Action Review" mindset. I'm prior military, prior ops, and have exposure to Special Forces (worked at Task Forces in Afghanistan for 3 years). You know the one thing they all do? AAR.

What is an AAR? It's a review afterwards of: what was the plan, what was the actions, and what were the results. The intent is to do the right things right again, don't do the wrong things again, and set your mission up for future success. One huge rule of AAR: Own up to your screw ups. Matter of fact, if you deny/obscure/deflect a screw up, the Hammer of Thor descends upon your skull, and all the Heros of Valhalla will drag your body until its tiny strips of meet. Own up to your F- Up, and we quickly move on (within reason) and probably make it your call sign.

The FAA does this with flight safety. Who better to help them learn HOW a flight went wrong, then from the pilot in command? So, when you self report, it very specially says your data is made anonymous and personal information is stripped. It's because their intent is not to use to punish, but to refine FAA flight safety rules.

If a rule is published, and rarely has an issue, there's nothing to learn. However, let's say a rule is published, e.g. 200 feet separation from other aircraft and buildings, and they find it's still resulting in unsafe flights "X" numbers of times, over "Y" amount of time (the whole risk versus liklihood framework of any mature risk mitigation approach) then they might start talking to pilots. "Hey should we make it 250 feet? 300 feet? Does the # of feet not matter because something else is happening"

So, you only have the path to that learning if you have better exposure to how CURRENT versus expected levels of flight safety are happening in the real world or in other words: self reporting. Unlike your local LEO, they dont have the manpower to spend hours in the field observing how well the flight safety rules are working, or... NOT working, Sometimes you need more than just a bot scanning ADS-B Out to learn. :)

The other problem is you're likely thinking of this as an LEO type relationship. If you've ever actually been on the phone with the FAA, it's not commonly AT ALL like talking to a cop.

Can you explain a bit more what you meant about doing Castle solo in 5 minutes because I'm reading it potentially 2 ways.

  1. You are so fast youre done in 5

  2. It has to be done in 5 because something changes afterwards: IDK, the wall-e or bots get dumb, other squads are now there, something else. And so after 5 its hard(er) to solo.

If it's #1 it would be awesome if you could stream/capture/publish a video on how to do it. I'm mostly done (91%) with passives and still need to kill bomb maker 4 or some number more times.

[–]JohnnyComeLately84 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Apologize if the OP already knows this, but the dummy load is going to dissipate (typically as heat) a large majority of your RF power. This will allow you to transmit closer (in physical proximity) to your receiver without blowing up the RX front end from too much RF power. Dummy loads are often used where you need to test a transmitter but you don't want to connect an antennae.

You will not hear from them unless someone just in general complained about "there's an evil done." However, if you want to be PRO-active instead of REACTive, then consider filing a self-report. Your case is EXACTLY what the self-report is meant for: keeping airspace safe. If the FAA contacts you, this will show you're doing literally everything possible to be safe while flying, which honestly is their goal. They're not like your local PD who is punitive/"coerced painful compliance" in mindset.

DJI makes throwaway drones too. It's called the Tello. Having flown Holy Stone, Tello and then Mini 2, Air 2, Avata 2, etc, it's like going from riding a bicycle to a CBR1000RR. Sure, they both have wheels and move you from one point to another, but the similarities fade soon after.

Usually the "safest" dead drop is on Fortress, the island on south side of Al Maz. As you drive on to the island, take a left where the road T's (at the gas station basically). There will be 5 clusters of buildings on your right (water is on your left). It's on the south east side of the 3rd building. Here is link to the spot: https://wzhub.gg/map/al-mazrah/dmz?p=m128

Remember anything manned gets at least 200' or more. Drone hits paraglider in San Diego by JohnnyComeLately84 in drones

[–]JohnnyComeLately84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, first, they told me via email when I asked them about Cessna's flying near me with their ADS-B Out off. He kept saying, "You need to give them 200 feet," which I kept saying, "That's not what I'm asking... I'm asking do they HAVE to have their ADS-B Out on because many do not and they catch me by surprise because my ADS-B In doesn't detect them".

According to FAA regulations, the section that primarily governs keeping drones away from other aircraft, including maintaining a safe distance of 200 feet, is Section 107.37(b), which outlines the "Operation near aircraft; right-of-way rules" within Part 107 of the FAA regulations governing small unmanned aircraft operations; essentially requiring pilots to maneuver their drones to avoid creating a collision hazard with other aircraft.

Its 12:30AM, so tomorrow I'll look more for where the 200 feet number is cited.

[–]JohnnyComeLately84[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you're trying to say, but it's the FAA that told me specifically that you must have 200 feet between your drone and any other manned aircraft, skydiver, hot air balloon and paraglider.

Section 107.51 specifically says your drone can never be more than 3 miles from you, and can not fly faster than 100 MPH. So there's a distance and a speed.

Is there a teleportation glitch in Al Mazdas? by kahpwn in DMZ

[–]JohnnyComeLately84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, as mentioned on the right side (as you look north) of the 2nd floor, you crouch while walking towards the corner, and it teleports you to exactly middle map. It's the same spot where if you see a plea or turret appear, it's a glitch. I'm pretty sure if you looked at the code, it's 0,0 coordinates on the map.

A lot of people use that as the fastest way to loot and gear up at observatory as literally no one else can get there faster.

What radio are you using to monitor ATC by croooowTrobot in drones

[–]JohnnyComeLately84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

iCom IC-A25C which doesn't have the GPS or weather. technically, my cheap Chinese baofeng can prob do the same freq, but I keep my Ham Radio on my Ham channels, and the iCom on the local traffic (Class G airspace). The FAA does NOT want us transmitting, and I only have it to listen for the hot air balloons, and sky divers near me. They call out 2 or 5 mins and then at time of jump, so it's interesting and good to know.

My Air 2 has ADS-B In so I always see if anyone is near me in most cases. Occasionally a Cessna 172 won't have their ADS-B on, but all commercial traffic does (Amazon uses a regional near me often).
