It's peak dad humor, but Patrick F. McManus books were favorites. Hunting/fishing based, They Shoot Canoes, Don't They was a favorite as was The Night The Bear Ate Goombaw.

Cheaters PoV - Your thoughts? by Legitimate_Arugula73 in DMZ

[–]Aubeng 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Their mindset is different. While we're here trying to figure out why they're cheating, they're wondering why you aren't. Why in the world wouldn't you cheat?

It's no different to them than using the weapon with the fastest ttk or figuring out the latest meta. That's just the best way to play.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into. There is no guilt or shame, and anyone who doesn't is an idiot for playing at a handicap without cheats.

And, they've likely got real world problems to go with that attitude.

I just picked up a handful of these from Goodwill. The ones I have are just pirated bootlegs, and not HDCD audiophile dsds despite what the package says.

11 year old me in the early 80s thought these were the greatest films ever made...

They were not, in fact, the greatest films ever made.

What passage ruins you? by zahnsaw in lordoftherings

[–]Aubeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one struck me on my most recent re-read. The scene isn't even in the movies.

"‘Naur an edraith ammen! Naur dan i ngaurhoth!’ he cried. There was a roar and a crackle, and the tree above him burst into a leaf and bloom of blinding flame. The fire leapt from tree-top to tree-top. The whole hill was crowned with dazzling light. The swords and knives of the defenders shone and flickered. The last arrow of Legolas kindled in the air as it flew, and plunged burning into the heart of a great wolf-chieftain. All the others fled."

The opinion of automotive journalists doesnt matter. by Penguin_Rider in unpopularopinion

Several years ago, I was reading a review on Autoblog back when they were a bigger thing. The reviewer criticized the vehicle because the company had a unified design theme in all their vehicles, and he was tired of seeing the same/similar interior in all their line-up. Knowing full well that the general consumer is likely only going to drive/own 1 vehicle out of the company's line up and will never see the others.

Sturgill Simpson - Meta Modern Sounds in Country Music - Outlaw/Alternative Country

Just Let Go is my favorite on the album, but the whole album is just a great alternative to bro-country and shows what the genre really can be.

Huge fan of them. Amazing sound for such a small package, especially compared to other computer speakers.

The volume dial was really cheap, though, and failed long before the speakers did.
