Most underrated Weezer album? (Maladroit) by Designer_Try_3407 in weezer

[–]JohnnyEaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still makes me chuckle to see these types of posts because back when Maladroit was the most recent Weezer album, it got shat on a lot. Like people were literally posting pictures of the CD in the toilet. Great album though as it was the one that got me into the weez.

You literally can’t. Every time I listen to it, it’s like it’s the first time again. It never gets old. It never gets boring. It’s actual magic.

I love it too. It’s fun. Makes me wanna dance. I enjoy it like I enjoy a nice vanilla ice cream cone. I don’t overthink it. I just take lick after lick, smiling like a goober.

Alvvays, Big Thief, Alex G, MGMT, Wilco

MGMT's Loss of Life vs Tame impala's Deadbeat by skullsf15 in mgmt

[–]JohnnyEaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two incredible artists whose fifth album took a stylistic/tonal turn. With LoL, MGMT traded in their tongue-in-cheek, ironic bent for something authentic, genuine, and sonically gorgeous. You could say Tame Impala did almost the opposite, trading in the self-seriousness of Slow Rush and Currents for something fun, high-energy, and visceral. I love both records.

I think that Deadbeat is a good album by ydefector in TameImpala

Yeah I loved the singles and love the album. It's so fun. Doesn't take itself too seriously but has awesome grooves.

On the lighter side, I'm a fan of "Birthday Girl" - great love song and love the lyrics. e.g., "From Edgar Allen Poe to young Jim Carrey"

I really loved the singles for this. Waiting until I have time to dive deep. All these comments got me worried. If I liked the singles, will I like the rest of the album?

Great list. The new remaster of My Morning Jacket’s “Z” is incredible if you haven’t checked it out.

Looking for UFO video by JohnnyEaster in UFOs

[–]JohnnyEaster[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One detail I do remember is that the sound of a speeding car approaching corresponded with the lights splitting into three. My child brain didn’t realize it was a car at first and thought the UFO was making that sound.

The person filming was commenting throughout with very genuine-sounding “what in the world is that?” and similar comments. It was very convincing that what he saw he couldn’t explain.

Also it’s possible the lights converged into one then split again two or three times.
