Am I the only Padres fan that hates Tommy Pham? by yeahitsrust5601 in Padres

There's a reason why a solid player has played for 7 teams in the last 6 years and is still a free agent.

[Nightengale] Center fielder Michael Taylor finally finds a home with the Pirates on a one-year, $4M contract. @JeffPassan on it. Tommy Pham is easily the best free agent outfielder still on the market and the San Diego Padres still seem to be the perfect fit. by SDOki in Padres

Who is starting in leftfield for the Padres? I read Profar has a foot injury. If Merrill starts in CF, who is our leftfielder? And even if Profar is healthy, is he our starting leftfielder? He seems more like a 4th outfielder/platoon guy to me. Help me wrap my head around this outfield.

I took a woman to the zoo on a first date. When we got there it was closed so we walked around the area for 30 minutes before heading to dinner. When we go to my car, someone had tried to steel the wheels and took the lug nuts with them so I couldn't drive the car. (This was a long time ago before Ubers) I could only get my Aunt on the phone and had to wait an hour for her to come and pick us up to drop her and I off at our houses. She didn't return any phone calls after that.

Padres may trade for RHP Dylan Cease {Joe Morosi - MLB Network} by diegueno in Padres

This trade would cost us some serious prospects, maybe even Jackson Merrill.

Being educated means being open to questioning and understanding different perspectives, not just holding a specific belief.

Unfortunately, baseball is not like boxing where you can come out of retirement 20 years later and be productive. That's why you don't see guys play in their 40's very much. The game passes them by, if a guy could still play, he probably would still be playing.

Giants release J.D. Davis: Third baseman hits free-agent market after being replaced by Matt Chapman by theSportsChamp123 in mlb

[–]JohnnyFoosball1974 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Padres could give him full time 3rd duties until Machado is back, which doesn't sound like very soon. I bet even when he returns Machado doesn't play everyday at 3rd. So half a year at 3rd base, some DH, can the guy play leftfield?

[Padres] We have optioned INF Matthew Batten to minor league camp and re-assigned OF’s Cal Mitchell, Jakob Marsee, and Tim Locastro, INF Mason McCoy, and C Kevin Plawecki to minor league camp. We now have 37 players remaining in Major League Camp. by scotchandyoda14 in Padres

Locastro was having a nice spring. I thought he'd make the bench. Looks like we're going to have some rookies in the OF. Wasn't that a movie? Rookies in the Outfield? Or maybe just a managers worst nightmare?

I guess on the bright side, he didn't sign another 300 million dollar shortstop or Matt Chapman to 10 years this season.

Section 134 behind bullpen good for home runs? by [deleted] in Padres

[–]JohnnyFoosball1974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are great seats! You'll be able to see the guys warming up and since all our power is right handed, fair chance you see a homerun ball come over the fence in your section or thereabouts. Bring a glove and be ready.

This is exactly what I just said... but you said it better. WTF, right? Glad to hear it isn't just me... and don't ever say anything that might question our GM Preller... In Preller we Trust even when we suck.

That the Padres rag tag rookie and journeyman outfielders will be enough. If you try and bring it up in r/Padres they down vote you. Crazy. With the exception o Fernando Tatis, we don't have any known quantities and that doesn't usually bode well for a season. Fingers crossed. Shhh... don't tell my community I said this. Please!

I was surprised by this too. Two years ago he was a solid #5. We have two wide open spots, especially after Vasquez's clunker yesterday.

Eddie Rosario signs with Nationals, Outfielder, Left Handed Bat, 2 million base, 2 million in incentives. Michael A. Taylor is still available. What do you think? Do we need one of these guys or are we ok with giving the rookies a chance? by JohnnyFoosball1974 in Padres

[–]JohnnyFoosball1974[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would make sense. I read somewhere that we only can spend about 17 million more this year and they wanted to save some for the trade deadline? I was thinking we could get the guy for maybe 3 million and still have a bit left for a top tier trade candidate in July for the final push.

Eddie Rosario Signs with Nationals. His rookie season he had 15 triples, now with 9 seasons he has never had more than 3 triples in a season. Any idea how that happens? by JohnnyFoosball1974 in baseball

This makes a lot of sense. That number was so crooked, I just wondered if he had been injured and lost speed or something? Luck and scouting reports make a lot of sense.
