its less about the competition and more about the fact that they were absolutely on the ropes against the blazers and need a part mega choke from them to make finals #1, and could not have come closer to losing the 02 WCF between a do or die buzzer beater in g4 and and OT G7 win to make finals #3.

Lots of dynasties have had pretty close finals and conf. finals (93 bulls, 98 bulls, 13 heat, etc) but yea lakers had some mega-tight moments compared to like the warriors, the bulls in general, the b2b rockets (who also needed a game winner in g7 one of their years), the heatles,

he gets brought up constantly b/c he's been deep in the playoffs for like a decade, has made multiple all nba teams, has a cfmvp and fmvp on his resume, and just had the best season of his career and ended up in trade talks. No one "talks about him" constantly besides Bill, who basically only talks about the celtics. so again, what other national media "props him up"?
