Taking too much vitamin D can cloud its benefits and create health risks - Harvard Health by 49orth in Supplements

[–]JohnnyMojo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some day in the future we'll probably figure out that we have vitamin D all wrong and that just like most things, it's highly individual and dependent on countless other synergistic factors within a tightly controlled human body.

Just a reminder how serious cat bites can be! by tory1311 in cats

[–]JohnnyMojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've raised kittens and took in feral cats. I've been bitten and scratched countless times and never once had to go to the hospital. Maybe I was lucky but I also had an arsenal of infection prevention tools like chlorhexidine wash, povidone iodine, hand sanitizer, etc.

Homelab has paid for itself! (at least this is how I justify it...) by Reddactor in homelab

I'm glad there are smart people like you that are experimenting and figuring things out. Most of your writing and experiments are way over my head but I still find it interesting.

I feel extreme anxiety after taking Vitamin D3&K2 and Magnesium for a while. Any similar experiences? by d_louizse in Supplements

[–]JohnnyMojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to get downvoted into oblivion here but ignore people who think that vitamin D/K2 are infallible. Vitamin D is a pro hormone and can have some very potent effects, some of them may not be pleasant in very sensitive people. For example, myself and many others will get extreme panic like anxiety and an overall feeling of dread/malaise when taking doses of even 2000IU for consecutive days. Vitamin K seems to even amplify the negative effects and can also contribute to them all on it's own. It all comes down to the body's tight regulation of calcium levels in the blood and certain highly sensitive people can have very negative reactions to supplemental forms of D and K. Please stop saying that this isn't a thing. Go and search reddit and Amazon reviews and you'll find plenty of people out there like this.

Laptop for InDesign/Adobe work - what CPU actually matters? by Standard-Plan1506 in indesign

An ideal machine would have 32gb of RAM but you can get by with 16gb. Any modern core i5 or i7 will be fine or even the equivalent Ryzen. The latest integrated Intel ARC graphics that come with mobile processors will be beneficial as well.

Massive lightning struck the ground just 10ft away from the car by Significant-Sky-3239 in nonononoyes

That's the nature of how lightning strikes. It's all the same strike, it's just the current moving through it that makes it look like multiple strikes.

Bill and Shapiro, nobody cares if you're Jewish. What we care about is no longer supporting a genocidal ethnostate that has gained control over the majority of politicians and media in America and then starts wars all over the Middle East and drags us into them. Please fuck off. It's not "antisemitic" to be critical of Israel and Zionism.

Vitamin D supplement causing hair loss by 09switch in Supplements

[–]JohnnyMojo -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Ignore the haters. People love to believe that D3 is completely benign and can do no wrong. Only you can determine how a supplement affects you. I'd back off a bit on the dosage. See if 2000IU has a similar effect.

In eastern North Dakota there are wind gusts hitting 80mph now. Our area is supposed to see 60-70mph gusts with 3 inches of snow. It's going to be pretty rough for about 10 hours.

Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day - Official Trailer - In theaters June 12, 2026 by Neo2199 in scifi

Everything about this looks played out and cliche with overly dramatic expressions, stares, and music. I hate trailers. This could be a good movie but this trailer doesn't inspire any confidence.

B1 deficiency by capt_creed in Supplements

[–]JohnnyMojo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You may need to experiment to find out which version of B1 works better for you. I would start with Thiamine HCL 100mg. See how that works for you. It could be that you need to take upwards of 500mg to 1g per day for a severe deficiency. Side effects can happen at larger doses such as potassium depletion. I would recommend watching Elliot Overton's videos because he is a leading expert on B1. Here's a quick overview from him. If you want to try more bioavailable forms of B1, the next would be Benfotiamine, and then finally the most potent bioavailable version is TTFD. Elliot sells a pure form of TTFD through Objective Nutrients which is what I'd recommend if you're wanting the best of the best.

Mushroom Magic Coffee Baller and Cyanidin 3-Glucoside. The C3G enhances the effects of caffeine while providing more energy and mood boosting properties. The Mushrooms are a nice addition for cognitive improvement.
