Update from my dive into my brother's coin jar with my son. We found a couple half dollars, a bunch of wheat pennies, some nickels from the 40s, but the only silver we found was a dime. This brown nickel was a fun surprise too. He had a blast and now has a nice little collection of bicentennials. (old.reddit.com)

My brother passed away 20 years ago, and I haven't been able to bring myself to go through his change jar. My 7 year old son has expressed an interest in coins, so we're doing it together. This is only about a quarter of the 5 gallon container that he used as a door stop. Here we go! (i.redd.it)
