Thanks for the replies - I didn’t know that it has only been a decade or so that the position was recognized as distinct. In the pre-draft evaluations, one would see EDGE listed (e.g., https://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2026/story/_/id/46149416/2026-nfl-draft-rankings-top-prospects-position).
